  1. Looks like you had another awesome Baja adventure, Thanks for the ride report, still trying to get the Anza to Idyllwild and back to Anza loop tracks for you.
  2. Looks like this is turning into fairly big group ride. Anybody do a head count yet? If I come out it will be 3 for sure possibly 5.
  3. You doing this ride on the this coming weekend, I am looking for a nice easy ride to take the wife and her friend on. We might do the noob ride but looks like that is getting pretty full and not sure about the trail and speed they will want to go. My wife is nursing a hand injury and just want to get her back out for a slow paced fun ride.
  4. Looks like a fun trip Jim, enjoy the ride.
  5. SloMo doesn't make it seem as hard a hit as it was. Still hard to figure out what I did.
  6. Great videos Jim, was wondering what happened on that spill. Looks like I just came in a little too fast hit the rear brake and started sliding sideways. Guessing from there I tapped the front brake in the loose corner and the front washed out. Not the first time I have done that probably won't be the last. good stuff, great trip. Thanks again.
  7. I am out, wife has other plans for me this weekend. Another time, you guys enjoy the ride.
  8. What routes do you plan to do on this ride? I am still recovering from Baja last week but feeling the urge to get out and ride this weekend.
  9. I have this marked on my calendar. Always look forward to meeting new people and riding new places. I am definitely in as long as life doesn't get in the way.
  10. Looks like a lot of fun, nothing better than being out at the river. I don't go as often as I used to now that the kids are moved out and doing there own thing. Always try to get out there at least a couple times a year just to cleanse the soul. Thanks for the pictures and hope we can put together a local ride soon.
  11. Well I don't know how much more I can add to this RR but pictures. It was truly an amazing experience, I had never ridden down in Baja before and to add to that had never done more then 95 miles in a day. Never having met before the ride was quite the risk for both of us. It was realized pretty quick in the trip that Jim is a faster more experienced rider than I was and I would have to ride a little out of my comfort zone to keep up. My goal for this trip was to gain a little more experience and ride somewhere other than Ocotillo/Borrego, Silverwood, and Corral Canyon. Mission accomplished and made a new friend that I am hoping to do some more trips with. As far as Jim's navigational skills I was not worried too much being that he was able to converse with the locals it was more of a concern that if we did too many miles trying to find our way I was not going to be able to handle the extra miles. Well we did 600 miles in 3 days and made it, when we left Tecate Saturday morning Jim looked at me as we left the van and said EPIC trip. It was, Thanks Jim for taking a chance and inviting me along on your ride. I will leave with a few pictures and as I sift through the rest add a few more as I can.
  12. If you stay on the coast or head into the mountains (4,000+ feet) the weather is very similar to our local mountains. It's warm during summer but fine if you keep moving / stay hydrated. June might be a stretch for a 3 day ride for some of the aforementioned riders (bboyle9 would be coming from the east coast) but July could possibly happen. My work schedule is changing somewhat dramatically soon so that is another variable. A shorter 2 day to Coyote Cals / Pirate's Cove over a Fri/Sat is a possible option for me over the next couple of weekends. Some slab may be involved the farther south we travel over a two day ride - nothing huge, just enough to make up time/distance. EDIT: As mentioned in this thread --> http://dualsport-sd.com/forums/index.php?/topic/20095-heading-to-coyote-cals/ , there will be a lot of prerunning (think fast moving trucks / opportunities for head-on collisions) along the course. A few sections of a potential fun ride to the coast overlap with the course and it will be busy the next few weeks until June 4-7 when the race will be held and I'd guess it will be somewhat beaten up afterwards but still passable on bikes. Hey Goofy footer thanks for the info, thru this thread I got invited on a ride this weekend with another member ( jawhitmoyer ). This will be my first time riding down the and am looking forward to it. If all goes well like I think it will I will be doing more trips down there in the future. Keep me posted on your next ride, I am somewhat flexible with my work schedule just need a few weeks notice if I am going to take any days off.
  13. Hey, Jim been looking to do the same ride as you. Never ridden in Baja and would like to get my feet wet soon. Let me know if you are planning to put a ride together and are looking for riders . Skill level intermediate and pace well lets just say as I get older I like to stop and smell the roses more then I used too. Hey guys check this thread http://dualsport-sd.com/forums/index.php?/topic/19769-tecate-coyote-cals-mikes-sky-ranch-loop-april-10-12/?p=190641 I owe senor Vacman a baja ride and might be up to lead a small group on a similar intro to baja ride like the one above. It'd be awesome to get bboyle9 and tp2400 on that ride too. No timeline on when that will be however. Goofy Footer, that looks like a great ride to get my feet wet. I have been down to Baja on a few surf trips but never on motos. Let me know if you come up with a date, I am assuming it will be later towards the fall or do you guys ride down there in the summer months?

Thanks, Pat. I'm pretty sure I met you at the Del Mar flat track races. Dick, his wife, and I went. You need to ride out to the house sometime and see all the toys. Yep, we met at the races. I will get in touch with Dick and make it a point to come out and visit. You ride any dirt around town? I take my wife and her friend out at least once a month usually to Corral Canyon or Ocotillo. It would be fun to find some other females for us to ride with so they are not always outnumbered.

Don't let this happen to you...

Going through it in my head and can't figure it out so I never put myself in that situation. Ouch is an understatement.
