  1. Stoke is the HDIC this year. If anything goes wrong it's all his fault!
  2. Dan pretty much nailed it. Plenty of riding variety in Kernville, Desert, Mountains, single track, Forest service, Paved. Whatever you ride whatever your interest you can find it and someone to enjoy it with if you like. No organized rides. Just show up and find a like minded soul or just hang in camp. It's a 'do what you want" kinda event. Typically we have about 6 different beer flavors to choose from over the weekend officially and the beer is INCLUDED along with Dinner on Sat night. Schwag raffle follows sat dinner. I'm having a brew party at my place on the 30th to make 10 gallons to bring along for this. Other brewers bring their creations as well. Hit me or Dan up for address/ directions if you want to come meet a bunch of the attendees before the event. Even got a few people from the bay area coming down to brew.
  3. If I wasn't already going to be in Ocotillo I'd be down for this. LOVE Grapevine! Have fun!
  4. Eric, I'm headed down tomorrow night and probably wind up at the Holiday Inn Express in Otay Mesa if you want to split the room. Michael
  5. Beverages provided will be home brewed Barley Wine and Scotch Ale for those that are of legal age.
  6. On our last camping ride we rolled out around 0900. With the hangovers that sounds about right.
  7. ah. Right where they can keep an eye on the hooligan biker gang. nah. I'd keep us close too!!!
  8. WHAT THE HELL!?!?!?!?! I just leave for a few days to go riding in Ocotillo Wells and I come back to this?!?!?! Just messing with you all. I really don't care where we camp as long as we get left alone like last time. I was wondering myself if day 2 wasn't a bit ambitious. I don't care where we go or what roads we take as long as we have a good time like last time. Can we move the start date to tomorrow?
  9. Bummed all day I couldn't make the scouting ride today, so I decided to drown my sorrows in the Old Rasputin clone I will be bringing to the ride next month. After all someone has to see how it's doing right? I decided to take the grenade for everyone. The bottle to be sacrificed, er...I mean the grenade. It's pretty dark. Just the way it should be. It needs a little more time to develop a little more carbonation. Rasputin is a pretty mildly carbonated beer so I don't expect a lot more. It should be right where it needs to be for the ride. Good Coffee & Chocolate flavor upfront and in the middle, followed by a nice light alcohol on the back end. Conclusion: I think it will be perfect in a few more weeks right in time for the ride. My wife thinks its perfect right now, but she's not much for dark beer.

    Scouting ride April 7th

If I wasn't packing and prepping for spending the week in Ocotillo I'd be in. Maybe next time.
  11. You the Man!!! Beer, Motorcycles and campfires!! Thanks. Nice vid by the way. I posted over on that other site for you. Get with Blake if you want some more footage to work with. I sent him oh 5 or so DVD's with my helmet cam footage from our last ride.
  12. Alright you bunch of heathens. 44 12oz bottles of Old Rasputin clone. Bottled. I'll probably have some of these along as well. The one on the left is a Rogue Dead Guy Ale clone, on the right is a Stone Arrogant Bastard Clone. I have had the rogue and the last batch was a big hit with everyone that tried it. It will be my first attempt at the stone clone. By the way. The Old Rasputin tastes great even before carbonation.
  13. Understand your apprehension completely. Took me a couple of years on my 530 in Ocotillo to get used to the bike moving around on me. As was already said here, proper tires will help a lot. Other than that it is all experience, and the only way you are going to get that is by doing it. Of course ride your own ride and if you don't feel up to it then don't do it. This ride is not a race and we are all hear to help each other get better. You included. Best advice I got in the sand and can give you is, keep your front end up and floating instead of plowing, get your weight back on that rear wheel and let the bike move around under you. Yes it is disconcerting but once you trust those two giant centrifuges under you to keep the bike balanced you relax and enjoy it and the faster you will find yourself going. And yea I know, easier said than done. BTDT.
  14. Hmmm actually it would. Let me see how much labels would be.
  15. Your the man home brew around the campfire after a day of riding does it get any better? I wIll have to get a Henry's root beer for Dakota I still have the gear for you by the way. Are you going to let us donate a few bucks to the beer supply fund? Donations graciously accepted but not required. We'll have to coordinate our schedules for me to p/u the gear. Next few weekends are pretty booked. Maybe after that. Thanks agian!!
