SCTA Observed Trials Round 02/13/11

Recommended Posts

They don't seem to have a flyer for the event, but there is an SCTA Observed Trials competition event scheduled for Sunday Feb 13 at Corral Canyon. Not sure which campground they will be pitting in, but it should be fun to watch. I'll probably go and spectate and take lotsa pictures. If you have ever wanted to go to such an event (or compete in one), here is a chance to see one up close, live.

I'm going and entering with my Gas Gas. Went last year to this event and had a great time. It was on Super Bowl Sunday last year and was lightly raining in the morning which made for awesome conditions. A little slippery at first but dried out after a short while for loops 2 and 3. Was home in time to watch the Super Bowl.

Rumor has it that Josh and Brad are coming out and going to enter on their trail bikes. I hope they do as it will be great fun for them. The easy lines though the sections are very easy and quite doable on a trail bike. My only concern is that they will get better scores on their dirt bikes than I will on my trials bike.

Here is a shot from a section on trail 9 last year.

Yeah, I am thinking I might try it out. The Novice lines do not look too bad. Although I do need to source a ball end shorty clutch lever for the 300 though.

Anybody have a take off rear trials tire? It may come in handy.

Come on you guys! Get your balls on and get out there and do it!

I was looking at the rules and they will do a trail bike class if you have the balls to do it. Trials tires are optional in the Novice and trail bike classes.

I would be up for riding Saturday and camping. I may even head up Friday and camp two nights.

The camping thing sounds good. I'll plan to be up there Saturday afternoon.

For you guys with no balls, I think you will be good if you have hand guards covering the levers. Don't forget your jock straps and cups too. Oh wait, never mind...

Thanks for finding that. The old one was ATA and that club desolved a while back and has been SCTA, so it's about time they changed. the new site looks pretty spiffy and seems to be somewhat interactive, although I don't see a real forum or a way to join the site.

All I can say is "Josh brace yourself". Four hours of an medical emergency can be an eternity. Buy a soft comfort seat.
