Guns and Ammo

Recommended Posts

BTW, I don't want your guns, I just don't want you to shoot me.

. By the way the crime rate has dramatically risen in Australia since that have lost their hand guns. It’s that way everywhere guns are taken from the public. So how are you safer with out firearms?

Yeap, just look at Mexico.

I feel it is better to have and not need then need and not have. By the way the crime rate has dramatically risen in Australia since that have lost their hand guns. It’s that way everywhere guns are taken from the public. So how are you safer with out firearms?

Anyone remember the mid nineties when there were all those armed car hijackings down in Florida? It was quite big news. Anyway, after they made it legal to carry concealed down there, I never heard another peep about armed carjackings, proving once again that the bad guys like the idea of shooting other people way more than they like the idea of other people shooting them.

More on ammo and Obama........

Date: Monday, May 4, 2009, 7:45 AM

Breaking news

Georgia Arms is the 5th largest retailer of .223 Ammo in America.

(they sell 9 mm, .45, etc ammo)

They normally buy spent brass from the US Dept of Defense - 'one time

used' shell casings by our Military - from training on Military bases,

etc. They buy the brass and then re-load for resale to Law

Enforcement, Gun Shops, Gun Clubs, Wal-Mart, and etc.

They normally buy 30,000 lbs of spent brass at a time.

This week the DoD wrote a letter to the owner of Georgia Arms and said

that from now on the DoD will be destroying the brass - shredding it.

It is no longer available to the Ammo makers - unless they just buy it

in a scrap shredded condition (which they have No use for). The

shredded brass is NOW going to be sold by the DoD to China as scrap

metal....after the DoD pays for it to be shredded. The DoD is selling

the brass to China for less money than Ammo manufacturers have been

paying...plus the DoD has to pay to have the brass shredded and do all

the accounting paperwork.. That sure helps the US economy now, doesn't

it? Sell cheaper to China - and do not sell shells at all to a proven

US business. Any agenda working here???? Obama going after our

ammunition!!!!!

The Georgia Arms owner even related a story that one of his competitors

had already purchased a load of brass last week - and the DoD contacted

him this week and said they were sending someone over to make sure it

was destroyed. Shell Casings he had already bought! THE BRASS HAS NO

VALUE TO THE AMMO MAKER IF IT IS DESTROYED/SHREDDED/MELTED. THE AMMO

MANUFACTURER ONLY USES THE EMPTY BRASS SHELLS TO RELOAD DIFFERENT

CALIBERS - MAINLY .223 BULLETS.

Georgia Arms owner says that he will have to lay off at least Half of

his 60 workers, within 2 - 3 months if the DoD no longer sells their

spent brass to him. He has 2 - 3 months inventory of shells to use.

By summer - he's out. If he has to buy new manufactured brass shells,

then the cost of ammunitioin to the buyer will double and triple...plus

Obama wants to add a 500% tax on each shell.

You can read the info and see the DoD letter to Georgia Arms here:

Loss of US jobs, control of ammunition by the new Obama

administration....liberalism at its best and on the way to socialism.

When times get bad...and they will very soon...only the bad will have

guns and ammo. This new "Obomanation" is going to make good citizens

into crinimals by trying to take our guns and ammo.

That happened back in early March. On the Georgia Arms website you can see that the DOD has reversed their policy, check the link that you sent. I'm sure there is more to come though!

Executive Summary - The USA state of Montana has signed into power a revolutionary gun law. I mean REVOLUTIONARY.

>

> The State of Montana has defied the federal government and their gun laws. This will prompt a showdown between the federal government and the State of Montana. The federal government fears citizens owning guns. They try to curtail what types of guns they can own. The gun control laws all have one common goal - confiscation of privately owned firearms.

>

> Montana has gone beyond drawing a line in the sand. They have challenged the Federal Government. The fed now either takes them on and risks them saying the federal agents have no right to violate their state gun laws and arrest the federal agents that try to enforce the federal firearms acts. This will be a world-class event to watch. Montana could go to voting for secession from the union, which is really throwing the gauntlet in Obamas face. If the federal government does nothing they lose face. Gotta love it.

>

> Important Points - If guns and ammunition are manufactured inside the State of Montana for sale and use inside that state then the federal firearms laws have no applicability since the federal government only has the power to control commerce ac ross state lines. Montana has the law on their side. Since when did the USA start following their own laws especially the constitution of the USA, the very document that empowers the USA.

>

> Silencers made in Montana and sold in Montana would be fully legal and not registered. As a note silencers were first used before the 007 movies as a device to enable one to hunt without disturbing neighbors and scaring game. They were also useful as devices to control noise when practicing so as to not disturb the neighbors.

>

> Silencers work best with a bolt-action rifle. There is a long barrel and the chamber is closed tight so as to direct all the gases though the silencer at the tip of the barrel. Semi-auto pistols and revolvers do not really muffle the sound very well except on the silver screen. The revolvers bleed gas out with the sound all over the place. The semi-auto pistols bleed the gases out when the slide recoils back.

>

> Silencers are maybe nice for snipers picking off enemy soldiers even though they reduce velocity but not very practical for hit men shooting pistols in crowded places. Silencers were useful tools for gun enthusiasts and hunters.

>

> There would be no firearm registration, serial numbers, criminal records check, waiting periods or paperwork required. So in a short period of time there would be millions and millions of unregistered untraceable guns in Montana. Way to go Montana.

>

> Discussion - Let us see what Obama does. If he hits Montana hard they will probably vote to secede from the USA. The governor of Texas has already been refusing Federal money because he does not want to agree to the conditions that go with it and he has been saying secession is a right they have as sort of a threat. Things are no longer the same with the USA. Do not be deceived by Obama acting as if all is the same, it is not.

the stuff about selling brass to china is crazy. Who voted for this guy?

Anyway, this thread motivated me to make an ammo order. Just an FYI, sportsmansguide.com does have bulk ammo for reasonable prices. I got 2500 rounds of .22LR from here for 100$. Not much more than I would have paid 5 years ago.

22 bulk

and 1000 rounds of .40s&w that were backordered but will be here in a month. Check these guys out if you wanna get some ammo without the doomsday price tags. Now is the time to do it...

order them now and before you know it they will be here. I don't even bother shooting my big guns anymore. I have a ruger .22 pistol and a ruger .22 rifle both stainless steel and under 300$. I can take them out to the desert, abuse them, shoot the snot out of them for cheap and still have lots of fun. Shooting a .45 for fun is just too expensive. Buy a box of self defense rounds for the .45 and get yourself a .22 for plinking!

I don't know what the gun is, but I do know that if it's a semi auto assault style long gun, it can't be legally bought or sold in the state of California, and it's too late to register it.

Sorry, not up on the gun laws. I'd just do a bunch of reading and take a stab at it. I'd say a call to a gun dealer might answer your questions.

I think you'll find in your reasearch that it is illegal to transfer that firearm in California (I believe you are referring to a Daewoo DR-200, more similar in operation to an AK-47 but fires a .223 round) with or without that silly "bullet button".

It's not illegal, unless you get caught with it ! :(

Every time I read that it cracks me up. I'm sure the criminals are following that law. I wonder if anyone has statistics of the percentage of crimes that were performed using "assault" weapons before and after the ban?

Does anyone know what the law is in regards to carrying a weapon in an RV?

My understanding is that RV will follow same rules as car. Taken from http://www.ag.ca.gov/firearms/travel.php

HANDGUNS

California Penal Code section 12025 does not prevent a citizen of the United States over 18 years of age who is not lawfully prohibited from firearm possession, and who resides or is temporarily in California, from transporting by motor vehicle any pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person provided the firearm is unloaded and stored in a locked container.

The term "locked container" means a secure container which is fully enclosed and locked by a padlock, key lock, combination lock, or similar locking device. This includes the trunk of a motor vehicle, but does not include the utility or glove compartment. For more information, refer to California Penal Code Section 12026.1.

SHOTGUNS AND RIFLES

Nonconcealable firearms (rifles and shotguns) are not generally covered within the provisions of California Penal Code section 12025 and therefore are not required to be transported in a locked container. However, as with any firearm, nonconcealable firearms must be unloaded while they are being transported. A rifle or shotgun that is defined as an assault weapon pursuant to Penal Code 12276 or 12276.1 must be transported in accordance with Penal Code section 12026.1.

REGISTERED ASSAULT WEAPONS

California Penal Code section 12285©(7) requires that registered assault weapons may be transported only between specified locations and must be unloaded and in a locked container when transported.

The term "locked container" means a secure container which is fully enclosed and locked by a padlock, key lock, combination lock, or similar locking device. This includes the trunk of a motor vehicle, but does not include the utility or glove compartment. For more information, refer to California Penal Code Section 12026.1.
