EICMA Milan November 6, 2018

Recommended Posts

Roughly 420# wet (my fuel weight math) seems pretty good weight for a bike of this size. They seem pretty agile when Bags and I watched them running out in the Borrego sand. I like that the picture of the instrument panel, it has a 79 mph indication.

Compare the Crank height vs the swing arm pivot, on the 790 vs 700. Next look at the fuel tank location. Is there a weight offered for the Yamaha?  Both sport the the Dakar exhaust location.

That 790 is hideous. And a porker. 189kg is 415 pounds plus 5 gallons of fuel. 446 pounds. What's up with the bulbous plastic fairings around the engine? Are they there to facilitate trail side repair headaches?

Only limited info for the Tenere as it has been announced as a 2021 model. Its not nearly as sexy as the concept bike, but when are production bikes ever as good looking as the concepts that inspired them. Yamaha's other 700 based bikes weigh in at 399 and 410 pounds ready to race WITH a full tank of gas.

Ahh, the neverending search for the unicorn.

Wish the ktm and the yamie were 75lbs lighter, that would be game-changing. Seems the old 950 super enduro holds its own against both these bikes though.  Was really hoping they would hit the 350lbs mark and be smooth enough for all day highway. I was really excited for the yamaha but it looks like it gained 50 lbs from the prototype...

Coolest mini-bike at the show!!!
