East County - Border Peak Loop 10/14/2018 - REVISED

A multi peak, border wall ride with burgers and beer.

Starting in the Jamul / Rancho SD area 

Big Bike / Noob friendly - 130 miles +/-

Sunday 10/14/2018

 

DUE TO JAMUL PARADE DEPARTURE TIME NOW 7:30AM

 

This will allow us to ride the Lyons Valley, Jamul, Deerhorn Valley portion of the ride before they shut down our access point - RED LINE on map

Not the end of the world if we skip, but its a nice intro into the following segments 

 

STARTING POINT

- Hooleys 2955 Jamacha Road, El Cajon, CA 92019

- KSU @ 0730

- plated bikes

- chilly start with potential lingering marine layer bring a warm clothing layer.

- If all goes smooth 4 to 5 hour duration 

- optional bailouts along the way 

- additional exploration riding is always welcomed

- Brodies burgers & beer 12930 Campo Rd, Jamul, CA 91935

As I was riding up Tecate Peak, I was thinking this would be a great noob ride... provided nobody goes whiskey throttling over the side of the road, of course.

I liked the part where the fence stopped at the granite boulder section. You could ride through and not have to wait at the crossing. ;)

See what you did....

 

We got yelled at, lost our lead singer and scared the Kug away.

 

Exploring Otay, Tecate peaks with a wrinkle of east county dirt roads.

looking like 150 miles 50/50 (or less) if we incorporate some Laguna - fuel and snacks in Campo, 

Beers and burgers in Jamul

Landing in San Diego tonight and will put some work into this 

 

looking forward to getting on the bike and riding, starting to have adventure withdrawals 

dont think laguna will make the list. 

Though scenic peaks and border wall riding will be the theme 

bring your camera, snacks, tools and lets have some fun

just load this into your GPS and we are off and running
