Mr.JAJA 380 Posted May 10, 2018 Well, I made my Australian remember run this days. I started on Friday diving Country road to Primm NV, where I run into Pet from Oceanside on the 66. He told me about a XLADV meeting in Kelso (Hole in the Wall Campground) and that Tracie will do the catering. So I crushed the XLADV party with a donation. I stay only one night and took off in the morning to Pioneer town NV. After a second coffee, I felt that I need more dirt and decided to ride to Primm to the dry lake. I got direction and went on my way. The way down to the dry lake gave me some trouble and reaches the Lake bed made me feel good. I went on the throttle and had some good speed when I decided to go back on the powerline road. To lay the bike down takes 1 second, to pick it up 4 hours. 1 hour I tried it by myself and 3 hours walking to the Primm casino and get some help. Lucky there had a MX race and some members of the “Shamrock Race team” drove out with me and pulled the bike back on the dry bed. After a total of 5 hour, I had recovered, repacked and got back on the road. Since time where running out, I hit I 15 for 4.5miles to get to the Nipton road and heading east. The night I spend on Lake Mead near Searchlight. Next morning after a good Breakfast, I went south to Lake Haversu and then on the 66 to Kingman. Warning, never drive to Oatmen on a Weekend. There were 1000 car clubs, rally’s and HD coming from Kingman and blocking the Town. I made it via 66 to Seligman, (Dirt to) Perkinsville, Jeromes and Camp Verde, where I spend the night. On Monday morning I attacked the “Mogollon Trail FR300” a nice trail but rough and corrugated. Back on the AZ 260,273,249 and south on the 191. The 191 is needed to get the flat spots from your tire and make them round again. I ended up in Clifton, just past the Morenci Cooper and Gold mine Town. This Mine is Min(d)blowing. Tuesday: From here I went NW on the 70 with every possible Byway. Made it to the Roosevelt, Apache Trail, Tortilla Flat, Florence, Casa Grande Maricopa and Gila Bend. Today I started with dirt from Hyder to the Yuma proving ground, riding the field and canal roads. I made it save home by 2 PM with only 4.2 miles Highway. Ride Byway, Not Highway

TrophyHunter 15 Posted May 11, 2018 Outstanding stuff. Consider a bike lift?? http://www.ibbikelifts.biz/lifts-and-accessories/emergency-portable-bike-lift/ https://www.advmotorrad.com/dustriders-motorcycle-hoist I'm sure with your skills, you could make one that'd work. I've seen a simple model which used a ratcheting tie down supported by multiple sections of pipe. Trying to find link. Similar to the advmotorrad one, but not $$$$$$. I had my BIKE LIFT with me but it failed. Had it dry tested at home with success. you can see it near the handle bar. The bike got sucked into the mud and after one hour try, I just gave up. And yes, I will build a stronger system.
TrophyHunter 15 Posted May 12, 2018 I'm sure you'll master it. I see it now that you point it out.
Zubb 1061 Posted May 12, 2018 Wow. Sounds like a great adventure! Glad you weren’t hurt out there when you went down. I was wondering about your bike lift. Sometimes we pack everything we need for an emergency except a friend to help lift. 8-).

Mr.JAJA 380 Posted May 17, 2018 Working in the garage and cleaning up the "GUMMIKUH" after the last ride and you see what I see? She has a broken backbone. I will deal with it later after my Europe trip. I guess, If you ride it hard, it will break.

Mr.JAJA 380 Posted May 20, 2018 I could not wait today, after watching the parade (no not the royal wedding) Ramona Rodeo Parade, I start to strip down the bike and now I am done. First I turned a tube with the ID and cut it in half. I left the center thick for strength. Than I drilled holes in the frame where the insert will be welded and hold with. Fixed the insert with 2 screws and pulled the frame back together as close as possible. 1 mm gap. Weld the first 2 holes, remove the screws and weld the other holes. Than weld the tube all way around. I decide to make reinforce brackets and place them under the weak spot. tomorrow I will apply some paint and done for the next ADVENTURE. simicrintz 177 Posted May 20, 2018 My Dad used to say "prost" (he's been gone 23 years); that brought back some great memories!
Zubb 1061 Posted May 21, 2018 Dang! I really enjoy it when people post pics of their processes. Pretty cool fix JaJa. I like the thought of those wedge braces underneath too. Makes me wonder if I should be bracing my GSA frame like this as a preventative measure. I know I'm an old fat guy on a 600lb pig, but in my mind I keep riding like a 9 year old escapee from Juvi Hall.
