tntmo 882 Posted April 18, 2018 I have been meaning to get another sunset ride in, keep forgetting but not this week! A small, but quality crowd showed up including Jim, Kelly and Mike......I ruined the quality part by showing up as well. Mike caught up to me at the stoplight in Rancho San Diego and we rode to the store. Jim and Kelly already told me they were going up from Marron Valley Rd so we waited a few minutes for any stragglers and started up the hill. We got to the antennae at 1900 (7pm for you non-military folks) and there was a Ducati Scrambler already there. Jim and Kelly showed up about 30 seconds later. The Ducati belonged to a guy who just happened to be up there at the same time, turned out to be a pretty cool guy and he had a beer along with him as well so it's almost like he planned it. I gave him some SDAR information, guess we'll see if he joins the asylum. We had beverages, we had tacos/burritos, we had a sunset, we had conversation, it was a good way to spend a Tuesday evening. It got a bit chilly up there, but how can we complain when parts of the MidWest got blasted with snow?? A nice ride back down in the dark....home again, home again, jiggity-jig! Wierdrider 187 Posted April 18, 2018 Burritos, Beer, and Bandido’s Kelly showing off his knife Mike’s enjoying life, good to meet you ?Tom scarfed his burrito down, I think he wanted that one too.Huh?As the world turns??Getting up close and personal Retirement changed Tom, ya think? More soap opera Ducati dude enjoying the view TJ was lit up brightly Zubb and I did an extended ride beforehand, Japatul Valley up to Descanso, down to PV, up Sunrise Hwy., and down Thing Valley to La Posta to 94, we stopped in Campo for our Burritos. Zubb will post up photos of that part. We rode up from Marron Valley road, if Kelly hadn’t stopped to ?, we would’ve run into Tom and Mike at Doghouse Junction. Great day of riding, eating, drinking, and BSing!
tntmo 882 Posted April 18, 2018 Great pictures Jim, you always take the time to capture the event. Oh, one of the things we were BSing about was having a top of the mountain BBQ at sunset next month. Between four or five of us we could bring a small BBQ, charcoal, hot dogs, buns, condiments, beverages, etc. What does the collective think of this idea? I've been considering it for quite a while, but don't want to make it happen unless we get a bit larger turnout. I will pick a date and make a post, if it looks good it's going to happen! crfxer 87 Posted April 18, 2018 Nice! Very nice, looks like fun. Gotta try and make one of these. Maybe the BBQ? Great pics and write up Jim!
Zubb 1058 Posted April 19, 2018 We watered the horses near Descanso in prep for the evening gallop Jim probably hates the fact that I don’t care where we go. It’s always a great route. I hereby name Sir Jim - Chief Navigation officer extraordinair. Thing Valley Trail is awesome! Look Jim! It’s a purple throated left wing warbler. Certain obstacle arose but eventually we found our way Campo. Tacos. Locked and loaded. We missed crashing into Tom by about 30 seconds since that’s about how long it takes to water the bushes and snap a pic. I noticed up top that if you stand close to the towers, your hair stands up. Unless of course you’re like Tom and me. When Jim gets quiet and slinks into the shadows, just let him him go and know he’s on the hunt for photos. Atta boy Jim. Go get ‘Em. simicrintz 177 Posted April 20, 2018 I am going to assume it is Mike on the XR, correct? Looks familiar (shrouds removed, FMF pipe, XR-R taillight mod with plate moved up-did you do the smog delete?). Looks like so much fun; wish it was closer to me! simicrintz 177 Posted April 23, 2018 I changed out the bars to some Pro Tapers (Carmichael bend?) and added a Scotts Dampner, switched the tires to Dunlop D606's (need to get new tires now and may change) and had the suspension reworked. My engine shrouds are off (I've ridden XR's for years and never had shrouds until this one, so I am not 100% how needed they are and decided to take them off). I have not re-jetted yet but will probably play with that at some point. I know these are heavy bikes, but I do like them. Really need to find a seat that doesn't make my back hurt within 30 miles next.... And I ride nothing like Tedesco!
