My xr650r is currently getting a makeover including a full rewire but I should be good to go by then for it's maiden Baja voyage

Awesome proposition, hopefully one of these days. Are passports required?

No.  They are requested, not required.

If this gets some traction, I’ll provide support truck(s) for additional supplies etc.
Generating a piece of mind with redundant options.

    DanRigger,

You are a Team Player -  Large of you to put this out for consumption.

3/31 is Lisa's birthday and we have tentative plans for Sedona :o.........could be a hard sell but I'll see what I can do  :dirol:

I'd rather not load all the camping crap on my bike for a quick blast south........maybe consider a known motel somewhere - El Cortez in San Felipe(?), Mike's (?), Mission Santa Maria in San Quintin (?)  or (?).....not sure where you're thinking of riding......

Looks like there is foreseeable traction....

A (2) day trip unfortunately does not scratch the surface of Baja.

Think of it more like an introduction or friendly gathering with potential for further & longer rides in the near future.

Offering the support of vehicles, so theres minimal cargo and light loads on the machines - aside from the necessities of tools & snacks.

Allowing you to bring your 12 person tent and favorite fuzzy teddy bear.

The vehicles will NOT follow us but will meet at our final destination.

Redundant checkpoints will be incorporated, to make sure everyone is moving along with no problems.

In the event there is a mechanical / injury - proper coordination will take place.

Tracking and safety devices are more then encouraged.

Favoring the "camping under the stars" to keep it organic and cheap.

Destination TBD at the moment

Need to put some work into logistics for maximizing the 2 day window, allowing enough time for arrival / departure from camp spot.

Ideally 200 miles or less per day (ruling out further south, desirable locations) - 100 mile range is also encouraged.

- Will eventually head down and pre-run a few segments to confirm everything is still there and conditions are favorable, will post separately if anyones interested.

following and contemplating skills needed for this type of ride. Will it be super technical or more of a cruise and explore trip? I love baja camping so its very tempting to say the least!

If the recon is big bike friendly also, I'd like to 'help' with the scouting mission.
