amgems 79 Posted September 15, 2017 Is anyone currently using this radio? Good? Bad? Do you know if it uses the same antenna connector as the UV-5? It looks like it uses the same "Kenwood type" mic connector. It is "waterproof". Thinking about an upgrade from the UV-5? My UV-5 sits outside my pack and has been in the rain a few times. It still works, but might be good to have a "waterproof" radio hanging out there. It's about $45.
RogerTOWM 0 Posted November 26, 2018 I have never used that radio. But a life time ago I remember we use to use handy talks wrapped in plastic wrap to keep them dry. It worked fairly well.
Van 35 Posted November 26, 2018 Check and see if it comes with our freq. Other posts noted RR may no longer provide and curious if others will or will not.
Huntndogs 114 Posted November 27, 2018 RR will no longer add a ham freq unless you can provide proof of license. Chirp software is easy to use and I have the cable if someone needs it.
