Covered in Dust 162 Posted September 27, 2016 On Saturday Bagstr, Tracy, Kug and CID met at CiD's house in Havasu and loaded up the Uhaul truck for our drive to Tuba city where we would start our UTBDR ride. Well the trip started with a bang when just outside of Kingman cruising along at 80 there was an explosive bang and 2 flat tires later we spent the next 3 hours on the side of I 40 in 90+ degree heat with trucks and cars whizzing by at 80+ mph. It's interesting how each person handles a situation like this. Cool and calm Bagstr just found a shady spot by a bridge and settled down. Kug explored around a little then got his chair and rested. Tracy paced up and down the freeway on the phone taking care of some issues at home. and I tried to figure out when U-Haul would have someone out to fix the flats. Uncle Champ 116 Posted September 27, 2016 School bus instructor here: did you do a detailed pretrip inspection before departure? Ah ha , well I bet you check the tires next time. Seriously a rental and it doesn't make it, PIA. Hope the riding was good.

Bagstr 287 Posted September 28, 2016 Recovery Zone - Beaver Street Brewery, Saturday night after the drive to Flagstaff. This Enterprise was spawned from the ever active mind of the Mighty El Covered in Dust. The Utah Back Road Discovery Route runs top to bottom, Idaho to Arizona and is generally a Big Bike Forest Service, BLM road tour on as much dirt as possible. There are a few Punctuation Points along the way that require additional skill and in my opinion a small bike. Thanks to CID for inspiration and rallying the team! Being a linear route, the unique solution was to Rent a Box Van going in and separately on the return. One Way to Tuba City Arizona, one way return from Logan, Utah. We have a picture on the cab accommodations floating around. Three could site back, but not four. There was idle talk of a car rental, but that complexity never took place. Sacrifice helps develop appreciation,,when the pain stops. Each of us had different part of our body going asleep as we switched positions to relieve the pain. The Tour spent one last night in comfort in Flagstaff before driving north to the Tuba City Laundromat / U-Haul station for the launch. Here we go!
