2016 Wr 450 versus Yzx 450.

Recommended Posts

About to Re-bike.

The X is $1300 more. No light. Red sticker. Yamahas newest enduro toy.

WR green sticker. Has a light. Time tested reliability. Slightly de- tuned but that's easy to modify.

Which one and why?

No I'm not going Orange.

Green sticker vs Red would make this decision for me. Why limit yourself, even a little. Green.

If you go WR, ride it prior to clippin' wires. If you like the hit, clip. I like the WR as is but I ride at 873rd the speed you do. :)

Wisdom from the peanut gallery:

Time tested reliability = She's got a great personality...

I've seen the way you ride, so faster is gonna be better. Just plate the red sticker out of state and call it a day.

That is a difficult question.

Where are you getting your prices? Yamaha.com lists the MSRP of the WR at $100 more than the YZFX. Is that from your local dealer?

The only real difference in the 2016 YZFX and WR are the lights and green sticker corking. They used to change a lot like heads and cams but not anymore. The WR is a street legal bike everywhere but North America and contains a lot of extras that can be removed to cut weight, i.e. turn signal wires and various brackets.

if I had one bike it would be a plated WR. When I bought my YZ I had a plated bike and wanted the lightest platform to begin my project with. I then added the gear I needed, headlight, tail light etc. The red/green sticker thing didn't matter to me as I don't ride local in the summer. A big benefit though is green stickers are Platable in CA, reds are not.

Have no doubts, the 2016 WR is not like the old WR. It is ALL NEW and built to be a real race bike (with lights).

Jon you cant comment until you join the 2016+  WR450F or YZ450FX revolution. those are the thread rules.

As for Ken, best choice is the WR450F and you get a hardcore enduro machine all kitted out and green sticky,   at 10 lbs heavier than the YZ450FX....

Lithium battery, FMF slip on, and some thoughtful bling and slight strip out and you lose the close to 10.

this is your new bike Ken S and Jon NEEDS this one as well. WR450F!!!!!! Tecate Enduro 2016 !!!

The husky fx450 seems like a good choice too.

The only way the WR could be any better is if it had one more gear...;)

would not hold the 5 speed thing against them, but I do get it.

Im sure that's a Yamaha engineering vs parts production corporate cost consideration, as well as untested stuff consideration. The 5 speed has been at the top tier of MX and world class offroad/enduro with no issues so stick with known quantity for now.

to Jon and Ken   doppio vu erra is the ticket. WRF can easily be X    X can not easily be WR.

he wants Japanese tech not Euro Tech I think----but Im sure also Japanese price point vs Euro price point has something to do with this. But if only a matter of color you can get yellow for the blue YZ or get white husky for the orange ktm

I don't think that's a thing on the fuel injected models, aside from the throttle stop you put in the competition ECU.

Price is a point. So is maintence cost.

Biggest point to me is suspension.

Who LOVES their 4cs forks?

No one I've heard of.

Yamaha is very reliable. I'm leaning strongly toward the X.

Dont care about Red sticker. It's plug and play ready for a proper lighting system.

Dont care about plating. If I want to ride street I'd buy a street bike.

What about A plated dirt bike for trails that require one ?   I know you seem to not want A plated bike.

I have a plated 525 I never ride but I've never had it really set up for me.

Kind of spoiled by my RMZ450 power and suspension. It's amazing but has 600 plus hours on it.

No garage queen. Got my money's worth.

on the note SSS forks are the best OEM forks on the market.  great right out of the box.  after your comments Im backtracking for you to just get the YZ450FX model its race ready fully uncorked pour in the gas and go. you want to tune get the Yamaha tuner from mild trail enduro to wild dez machine.
