DV Noobs event 3/31-4/3

Recommended Posts

This is a great event (11th annual) put on by NSFW on Advrider. Sign ups are limited to 200 and go fast.

There are many rides with 5-15 riders to choose from at all skill levels during this event.

Food and prizes are top notch - especially Thursdays burgers that myself, Todd Whiteside and crew cook lol.

Is this a social event, or are they charging? I see where you can book your spots, but not a registration/ entry fee. I am thinking of doing this. Maybe a group from SDAR go or maybe we go on another date, any thoughts?

Great Idea Afry, Thanks for posting!

I just recently rode with Paul and Rob and we mentioned that a trip to the Valley should start being discussed because it was a great time (we rode together a lot on that trip). There is so much to do there. I brought 2 bikes and enjoyed them both.

Last winter, a small group went on a weekend just before or after your big group ride. Heard your ride was fantastic, and ours was too (some of the SDAR riders may have had too much fun due to a birthday party :) , but all good). I hope to do either as even if you don't go exactly where others go, there is plenty to see. This year, I was hoping to see a rock move ever so slowly on the racetrack - haha, go up and over Goler, mengel, to the next valley badwater (will need to carry lots of gas) , and ride the titan. I will enjoy following this and all death valley posts/threads. Cheers. Thanks again.

Great trip!

Good question - Entry fees are based on whether you are tent camping, Motorhome, motel etc and if you are eating their food or not. Think it will start around $70

it is a fund raiser with proceeds (after event costs are covered) going to different pro riding organizations.

For example last year Joel sent :

$1,500 - Blue Ribbon Coalition

$1,500 + $300 - Stewards of the Sequoias

$1,600 - California Trail Users Coalition

$500 - California Off Road Vehicle Association (CORVA)

He also donated to the Angeles National Forest ADV Volunteers from post event monies that came in.

We've had a few SDAR Death Valley trips...

I think the place is awesome...

It should be on the must do list of areas...

Death Valley will be a little.......ER........different this winter. The stair steps are back in Goler Wash, Steele Pass is rather interesting right now and two of the mud holes on Hunter Mtn are more than foot peg deep. This is the beauty of DV, ever changing :smile_anim: I hope you guys come back up this season, you're a great group.

There were a few SDAR groups that visited DV last year. It would be fun to coordinate some of these efforts - at the ADVrider n00b Rally, DVDaze or a separate SDAR DV meetup.

Not to derail this thread too far from it's intent to promote the ADVrider n00b Rally but here are some of the Ride Reports from last year:

n00bs Rally Ride Report below. When Afry says that the 200 spots fill up quickly - he means it. Expect it to sell out in a few days and the planning thread to be over 100 pages long!

Sounds like a fun time, I just signed up. I'll be towing a flatbed trailer behind a PSD crewcab/camper and will have plenty of room for more bikes if anyone is interested in car pooling. So far I plan to leave SD Thurs or Friday and return Sunday.

Come look up Todd and I, we will be running the Thursday night bbq and staying in room #1 of the hotel. It's the only room with a patio and most likely a bunch of hoodlums drinking there enjoying the view.
