Ok thanks. That's what I figured but I thought I'd ask. I'll bring the camp stove and get fancy with it!

SDAR participation was good

Jake, Nate, Blake, Rob and others, it was at times a bit dusty but that's what we are used to here. luckily we had a fairly stiff breeze to carry away the dust clouds. As for me I got a super break- a 3 minute standby gap between the last of the 40+ group and me at the start of our 50+ group, leaving me with mostly clear air and clear trail.

Others can check in, Im very happy with result got 8th 50+ Open (scraped out the last trophy position) from 47 and 72nd OA from 232

Great times! Diggin' the pics Seth -- that about sums it up!

Out of 232 riders (51 riders in the “Vet” 30-40 class) I got 172 overall and 40th in class. Good enough for me as:

I went just to have fun! I got to check out the awesome terrain, meet tons of friendly people, and drink mucha cerveza…and I succeeded at that!!

After getting turned around at the border because I had gas in my gas can, I had to go back to the US side, go through secondary inspection, then re-enter in Tecate after dumping my gas out into my van (waving "hi" to Robert and his entourage as they drove past me).

After stopping for fish tacos and a beer at a place BP619 recommended, I made it eventually to the Ranch with a few hours of daylight to spare so I got out the pedal bike to ride some of the course and then enjoy a very romantic sunset followed by a gourmet pasta dinner

The race itself was awesome! The terrain was very varied without enough technical sections to keep it interesting! I was expecting a lot more technical sections after hearing some of the stories from years past but I guess they toned it down a bit this year. I liked the format a lot. Here is my pro-level pits...serious sh*t

At the finish line they had an ice cold Tecate for me which I promptly drank a couple 4-5 of them at the "beer garden" the Los Ancianos had setup. Then had a good time around the campfire Sat night with lots of delicious meats being grilled

Can't wait to do it again next year!

BTW I didn't get that much dust, except for the "grass track" which turned into a serious dust bowl. I don't think I've seen a dirtier air filter with this few of miles on it, this was mine after the race. Only about 50 miles on it....ha

"After getting turned around at the border because I had gas in my gas can, I had to go back to the US side, go through secondary inspection, then re-enter in Tecate after dumping my gas out into my van."

Jacob - What do you mean by this? Do you mean you cannot carry gas in a gas can across the border?

Technically, no. However, after they checked our bike registrations, Blake and I watched a Mexican border guard lightly kick both of our completely full 5-gal gas jugs (mine had 2-stroke premix in it) then waved us through. I think it's who you get and their mood that day/hour/minute...

for some reason one of the aduana men decided to enforce the law.....it happened a couple of years ago with one of the woman officers and while not sent back I was ready to dump my gas into a local border taxi because my truck tank was full. she finally relented and let us through and warned us not to bring in gas again. needless to say we always bring in fuel but kinda keep it hidden or at least covered. Happily we received a call from one of our crew in the early morning and we left our fuel at home then hit the Pemex on the way out of tecate and got all our fuel. Mex fuel is most likely better anyway with zero alcohol added. Some of our crew had to do the circle around dance as well (Massimo and Motorhome)

glad you posted up the fotos!!! there are now hcam viddys from PNW friend Jake Meteer and some others to show off the tests.

Test 1 (course 1) second half of test.

just so you guys know over the years we've ridden parts of that trail mostly the opposite direction as part of the 2010 enduro course and as the HS test loop and at other times as well for various years LAMC HS courses.

PS I'm still happily amazed I beat Jake in the OA, that guy really is faster than me usually by minutes at the least.

Note also Jake is on an Italian Husky WR125 with a Lectron Carb. the thing just is so smooth and actually sounds like a 250 as far as RPM goes, its an amazing 125 I hope this Italian Husky (Cagiva basically) engine finds a new home with somebody (I did hear the Gas-Gas did buy the licensing and tooling for this motor from KTM/Peirer.
