Hey Everyone-

I have been trolling the site for riding ideas, and saw enough good information I thought I'd better join. I have been riding since elementary school (first bike was a Yamaha 50 cc two stroke) with some breaks here and there as life got in the way of a good time.

I have been riding a GS the last three years, but after a trip down to Cabo last month, and seeing all kinds of dirt the GS shouldn't tackle, I decided I needed something more dirt worthy. I saw a tricked out KTM 690 in El Coyote, but decided on a 500 EXC, which I bought on Good Friday...I guess I should call it Double Good Friday!

On the GS I do a lot of moto camping in the Sierras, and riding all over the local mountains. I do ride quite a bit of dirt on that thing, but picking it up sucks.

I only have three hours on the EXC, and the suspension is currently out for a revalve job, but expect to do DS loops from my home, and of course a lot of Baja. I lived in Mexico for eight years, so I am fluent in Spanish and have no fear of the police/military.

Looking forward to meeting you all on the trails!

Jim

Welcome to the club Jim

Sounds like you will fit right in with your stable of machines and riding experience

That 500 is a great bike....!

Once you get it dialed, feel free to join a local ride or a Baja excursion

Hi Jim,

Welcome to the club. You look a lot like (but younger than) a Jim Whitmoyer that I used to work with at Qualcomm back in the day. How do you get that stuff to stick to the ceiling of your garage? Hope to see you out on the trails one of these days.

Thanks everyone for the welcoming words. My suspension will be back Tuesday, so I will be looking to ride Saturday.
