Husqvarna FE350S Power Commander V

Recommended Posts

Well my crew member's 2015 FE350--- was/is the set up test mule for DynoJet Research to do their PC5 integration. He just called to say they are done and he is heading back from Las Vegas, with a brand new powercommander 5 plugged in.

Bike has been tuned with an FMF powercore slip on muffler with the S/A plug in (the one with the carbon fiber end cap)

bike was mixture (A/F ratio)close at low rpm, at 40-60% tp it was scary lean and it was fat way up in high tp. My opinion for the high TP fat is that they tune that wot position like an accelerator pump.

Anyway they got the fuel metering clean and clear throughout the TP so its still a hardcore enduro with smooth torque power throughout, oh yea with this set she makes roughly 3HP more from top to bottom smooth power curve on the dyno. The bike is now optimized.

The FE350--- PC 5 should be in the catalog asap.

more words from ZipTy Racing engineering/product development dept.

Yesterday, the 2015 FE350--- showed up at my door at ZipTy and I hooked the ecu up to the tuning computer. ------------------Redacted------------------------------

The Powercommander however works beautifully and there is much power to be gained even off of the dyno. Testing the newly tuned ----350---- showed smooth power, except when the throttle was snatched open hard from 0%. Power was inconsistent and was causing occasional flame outs. I like having quick response for lofting the front wheel over a log or rock and I hate having to time the power delivery for a sudden ditch or drop off. The Powercommander offers an amazing accelerator pump feature to relieve this. It's going to be a "work in progress", but for now the -----350--------- is feeling much snappier off the bottom and will definitely feel more controllable in the slow technicals.

Also I want to point out that I did some work adjusting the TPS voltage and this did not produce satisfactory results, in fact it produced poor results compared to the PC5. May be the reason why you don't see these little voltage tuning boxes on the market anymore. Adjusting the TPS voltage will forward you into the map timing, resulting in several issues with ignition timing as well as other timed events in the ecu mapping.

Any updates on this robert if your buddy is still have good success. My fe350 boggs off idle with hard acceleration and still popping like crazy on decel. From what I've gathered and researched I can't reflash ecu to eu mapping so looks like this is only option. Tps tool really didn't do anything

I am not a proponent of TPS adjustments. My personal thoughts only, because many play with it and are happy.

I like specific points tunability like the pro teams/tuners FI engineers do. TPS just moves the entire map and timing over, my only worry for TPS is not really fuel, its timing ---perhaps my research/thought process is incorrect. But I feel shifting the TPS shifts the timing, which is great for high RPM advance.....but that same degree of advance shift at low RPM stresses the engine (especially the bottom end)..... But that's my opinion, so for all reading this, lets not turn this into a TPS argument.

Your bike is S legal lean of course.

see PM

and once you find more fuel and a more free flowing exhaust, you can also do this as well

Brian did you remove the smog stuff on the bike? That will help some with popping. I know he husqvarna and ktm bikes are pretty much the same with some minor changes but why can't you just get the ecu remapped? I just dropped my ktm off and getting the euro map put on.

I did remove all the smog stuff did help with the cold start issues and did bump up the tps a little which helped top end but looking for right off idle full throttle help just bogs. from what ive gathered and called people about 2014 can be remapped 2015 locked.

FE-S model huskys are locked from remaps. EPA legal qualified ECUs. best not to discuss this openly. expunge my comments if needed. answer----as discussed- Dyno Jet Power Commander 5, will work outside, over, around and above the S ECU. Or spend $$$$ on new tunable XCF ECU.

from MXA's 2014 Husky FC250 review.

from MXA's 2014 FC250 test

(3) Side panel. We’re big fans of the Husqvarna FC250 body styling. The white/yellow/blue scheme harks back to the glory days of Husky. Unfortunately Husqvarna broke a cardinal rule to design – form should always follow function. The one-piece number plate and airbox cover may kill two birds with one stone, but there is a problem. Designed for use on the enduro models, the FC250 airbox cover is sealed up tighter than King Tut’s tomb. When test riders complained that the Husky didn’t feel as responsive down low as the KTM 250SXF, we removed the side panel and had them ride without it. They reported a vast improvement. So, we grabbed a cordless drill and bored five quarter-size holes into the left-side panel just in front of the lip enclosing the air box. For good measure we drilled two more holes at the top of the side panel. The result was remarkable. We noticed an improvement throughout the power range, including throttle response and over-rev.

from the hate list

(4) Airbox. To be more specific, the left-side panel prevents air from entering the air box. Break out the drill and let the engine breathe.

holy ---- I wasn't expecting the power commander to work as well as it did, I just got done installing it and took it for a couple mile ride around the streets. Bike fire right up cold hasn't been started since the track day 2 weeks ago, before would never fire right up cold if sitting more a day or 2 I have even drained the battery once trying to get it started which is a bad thing on the Husqvarna's with no kick starter (next mod). No choke needed got it all warmed up revved it a couple times and noticed zero hesitation tons before. Before I even got a block noticed huge throttle response and massive gains on wot must be that accelerator feature of the power commander. Cant be more happy. I also did the airbox mod and reinstalled my bestdualsportbkes.com muffler end cap so noise is a little annoying now but will take it for how much better it runs. Still has some decal popping not much so gonna do full desmog I only capped everything off before and realign the header see if that helps. thanks for advance and tips Robert see ya out there.
