SWM (Speedy Working Motors) original name

Recommended Posts

SWM (Speedy Working Motorcycles) now. Is reborn (look up SWM back in the 70s they built enduro comp bikes) in the "old" Varese Husqvarna Plant. They appear (in their real enduro comp style machines) to be using the older series Husky 250/310 and 450/510 engines, as well as the semi perimeter chassis from the last of that series of Husky twin cammers (before x-lite and GS450 engine).

Financed by Chinese company, remanufactured under the engineer that designed those 100% Italian dual cam machines Ampelio Macchi.

So if you like your mid to late 2000s (@ 03 -10)

Husky TE/TC/TXC250/310 and or TE/TC/TXC450/510 there is a resurrected brand name SWM soon to be on our shores with all "new" well evolved bikes as well as 610/630 type big DS and a series of retro machines.

All my 450s TC, TE and TXC from this series were mechanically very solid and bullet proof.

As for the SWM prototype X-lite style engines (which don't appear to be used on the "new" models you can notice that they redesigned the starter with a large diameter drive gear rather that worm gear design that never had the purchase/leverage to crank properly

The US SWM importer is officially........Pete Vetrano........Moto Man...Oak Hills, CA. Pete is spending this week at the factory getting a first hand view and up to date info and news direct from the SWM HQ. A RS500R and a RS650R are ready to ship to the USA as soon as the US-DOT import certificates are in place (now almost 3 weeks late delayed by "red tape"). I will post shared info from Pete as this week goes on. A SWM Motorcycles USA facebook page is up and running. A website is under development and should be up within 60 days. Interested dealers are encouraged to contact us at Pete's current e-address...info@motomandist.com, but please wait until after March 22, 2016 when Pete returns to do so.

First SWM models to be available for sale should arrive in August 2016.

BTW, I guess SWM is officially the surviving Husky cousin brand and we should probably move further SWM discussions to that forum section to be CH forum correct.

Finally SWM USA got passed for 50 state distribution. The RS500R should now be available as a 2018/19 model. see SWM  also the Australians have had them for couple of years now and have lots of YouTube test and eval viddies , including the bigtime ADB magazine Australasian dirt bike. So far what I know is that the RS500R is the only model available.

Options are always good to have. Even if it is a 10+ year old chassis and engine. Consider the DRZ and XRL are 20+ years old and then 10 is almost new.

Base mechanical design of the Ing. Macchi designed DOHC engine were debuted in the 2003 World Enduro championship with Anders Ericcsson winning the championship that year. At that time they (Husqvarna Italia) put out the 250cc version which is the same entire bottom end with a different cyl and head (top end) attached, a way over built 250 DOHC enduro powerplant . I was hoping the RS300R would also be qual for US but the cost vs market for a 300cc DS bike has stopped that model from being sorted. The RS300R is basically a Husky TE310 "big block"from 2010 before the X-Lite 250/310 engine took over.

So we can only hope that all the bugs are worked out by now.

My 2008 TXC450 was very bulletproof and was rebuilt after @ 300hrs of hard riding and racing.

SWM has all new electronics and FI system. Chassis is the base of the 2008 TE/TC/TXC build but is in the 2010 build config, which had minor structural flex changes.

So more than not its basically a 2010 model Husqvarna TE510 with super good price point for a 2019 model machine in this market segment

RS500R  $7795 (8K) for a 500cc high quality component filled EU DS machine.

SM500R $8495 (8.5K) for the same in Super Moto configuration.
