Due to many circumstances I haven't been able to participate in anything for a while. This was a wonderful event to bring people together to celebrate a wonderful and loved SDAR member. The tree planting ceremony was heartwarming, Tracy did a nice job officiating and bringing all together with stories and memories from those who chose to share. It was so nice to meet the family and have them share in the experience. Sitting around the camp fire in the evening was wonderful also. It was great to see some old faces and meet some new ones. Maybe a desert camp needs to be planned again in the near future.

We can keep an eye on that tree.

Got a call from Tree's wife Linda...she and the family were very happy with what we did for Duane and thanks SDAR and everyone who showed up to pay our respects, planting the tree and plaque.

Tracy King did an awesome speech....and many thanks to ADV Bum for picking up the tree and also helping Carguy and Joliet for doing most of the work...also Joliet donated the Olive Tree from his company and I donated the plaque for SDAR.

Thanks to all for coming out and all who said something for Duane...Joliets friend Dave did a head count...there were about 45 people there.

Also happy to have been part of this. Was great seeing/meeting everyone. Bonfire Sat night with some SDAR OGs as well as tree's family.. good times and good memories that will last forever. Thank you guys for doing this for Tree, I shall always stop by the olive tree from now on.

This WE was also about riding for Tree so hey here is a little somethin somethin.

Jon (97xr400r) and I got on the saddle Friday around 3pm and took dirt to Jacumba, camped up off the bike somewhere by Stage Coach (cold and humid!!), woke up early rode down the mountain and found our way down to the desert, rode Dos Cabezas SinNombre etc and got to butterfield right on time for a cold one before the ceremony. After the ceremony we somehow managed to squeeze yet another run with Beezzz to the top of heartattack & back (fun seeing jeeps "squeezing" back up), and around Blair. Back at camp for the night were mtnmanseth had arrived and also managed to squeeze a solo ride up and down oriflamme (he had just missed us when we left). Again it was a great night bonfiring by Tree's tree. Next day when the 4 of us shot for a big loop, it was mtnmanseth's first time in the great Anza Borrego we couldn't half ass it! Valecito, tapiado, diablodrop, sandstone canyon, fishcreek, OW to goat trail, buttes, sinkwash, dumpwash, and we poped back on peglegs minutes before seth's 300gasgas dries up. a quick tow to the gas station in borrego (Wintyfresh had hooked him up with a little bottle of 2t oil) and we're back on the trail up Culp, down to Grapevine and back out the 78 to butterfield. Nice touch from beezzz and his lady to provide the mandatory afterride beer. And it was time for the Jon-Kato duo to get back on the saddle and ride home, back up rodriguez etc to Julian, Ramona, SanDiego. A few pics:

Windy day in the park, it's not blur on the pic it's sand! was eerie.

I kept getting shocked clutching... this has happened to me before but wasn't sure what the deal was until Ken (Joliet) schooled me the night before at the bonfire about how sandy days can create static electricity on your bike (flying sand) and shock you. yep!

Kato and John...glad u guys got some great riding in.

I really wanted to stay Saturday night and hang with all of you but I realized my Codyboy wasn't doing well so he was my priority and I needed to get him home...that was his last time to Butterfield.

It was a memorable day for sure.
