Changed and bled brakes now rear is kinda soft (dr 350)

I think he's talking about the banjo bolt that connects the rear brake hose to the master cylinder.

Thanks! Did it and ton of air can out. I can't say my brakes are anymore responsive though. Maybe I'm just Trippin, I never really paid attention to how the rear brakes functioned before I changed the pads but swore I could get the back brake to lock and skid the rear tire. Maybe it was just in the dirt lol. How about any of you guys? Are u guys able to lock up the rear on the street?

My DR350's (I've owned quite a few) all would lock up the rear tire on pavement easily. Something isn't right if it won't.

I don't know anything about your bikes system, up down etc. I know on some cars that to get that last bit of air out the caliper has to come off and be held upside down (make sure there is something in between the pads so you don't blow out the pistons). How about raising the front wheel and bleeding it in that position?

I thought about that trapped air thing too Charlie. Maybe remove the entire system from the bike, caliper, hose and master cylinder and hang it vertically to get all the air in one end or the other. I will often remove the front brake lever and hang it from the cieling to get any trapped air out of the high spot in the hose.

Like Tom said, locking up the rear tire on pavement shouldn't be difficult. I recently had an oil leak that found its way to the rear brake and killed most of my rear braking power. You might check that the rotor and pads are still clean.

I found two entire rear brake systems, so if anyone needs one for a DR350 let me know.

Ya the banjo bolt . I was gonna say that but didnt want to confuse you.

I dont lock mine up on the street. I lock mine up in the dirt when im trying to powerslide or set up for an insane corner at high speed..or a new thing im working on .. skidding into a 180 and powering out of it.. its even more fun if you can keep the feet on the pegs..or one foot up by the front fender.

When im relying on my rear brake to do actual work ..lets say going down a steep dirt hill and I need braking action I dont like it to lock up.... even in panic mode...

But then.. my xt rear brake is mechanical not hydrolic..

Im glad that old mechanics trick worked for.you..

Also you can do it again after a few days ,,them darn micro bubble are so tiny it takes them a few days to gather sometimes..
