husq-a-daygo 0 Posted December 30, 2013 Made a map from google earth and downloaded it into my Garmin for today's ride. Not sure if the trackes were ridable or not. Sometimes the satellite shots look do-able but end up being impossible in real life. Started out in Big Bear City at the family cabin. Took off towards highway18 and landed on a fire road to Cactus Flats with snow and ice in the shady spots kinda sketchy. But made it down to Horsethief Flats to the end of the trail and had to ride down this loose rocky grade . I do not believe this is climbable... Cool I'm now down in desert scrub and rode a wash down to Bessemer Mine Rd out to JV. Found Soggy Basin Took a pic of the mountain I just climbed down and the valley I rode across Had a blast on some single track that ran at the base of Cougar Bluffs like MX track without any traffic. Got into some serious rocky stuff that I had to dismount to scout the line. Ended up a 90 mile day. Good stuff Mountain to desert riding...

husq-a-daygo 0 Posted December 30, 2013 HAD Now That, is what I call an Adventure Ride. Good stuff. You and your bike all alone out there?? Make my heart pound. Well come up and join me on the next one! I got lots of gps tracks + google earth. Yeah I had to tone it down a few times and not take some trails that I would normally take. I sent my wife the GPS map and told her to send the cavalry if I wasnt back by dark.

husq-a-daygo 0 Posted December 31, 2013 im so going to that next time im in Johnson valley.tHANKS FOR POSTING THAT ive been wondering the route for a while FYI I started at the top in Big Bear and the route that I took Horsethief Flats (continued past the end of the jeep trail) is pretty much a one way direction travel with the steep, rocky. loose climb. Just in case you are trying to climb up from JV. I scoped other routes on google earth that are more feasible up but I cannot vouch for them as I have not personaly tried them.
