Thanks Dave--I got to ride threw this area two times, once on the TAT and last year on our way up to start the CDT. I always was on a big bike so this time I decided to take the little one. Made the ride a bit essayer on the stress level. Our KTMs handled it with no problems,no flats,no issues. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I invited about 10 -12 guys but due to attrition it was down to Bagster, Covered in Dust, and a new friend from ADV that saw that we were riding in that area and had the time to join us. Juan aka also as Thomas. Juan knew the CA part well and that was good because I had a hard time making up my tracks in the CA part.

The main theme of this ride was to ride the Historical Immigrant and Pony Express trails. I love that stuff. Nothing has not really changed since that time.

Trails of Tragedy and Triumph.

Before I get to far . Our general route ( But once we got riding we changed it up a bit )

Map-L.jpg

And Bagsters Track off of my phone.

We needed to to go 300 miles in between gas stops due to the stop in Denio NV was puting in new tanks. No problem for the well prepared desert travler.

032-L.jpg

We headed out from Gerlach, stoped at the BLM station and was advised that they had some rain and that the lakebed might be wet. It was a bit windy also so we took a diferent route. A good decision because the ride was awesome.

But we did go on the Playa a little bit.

Now we are finally getting to one or our goals, The Black Rock Desert Playa. Six miles of cracked linoleum on our visit. Another day,,,who knows

Six miles long.

DSCN06421000w-L.jpg

Not a race track, but I will take it. Moving north through uncharted territory. Does the road run through?

DSCN06731000w-L.jpg

Passing the way of Real Adventurers, 160 years later.

Some views are better masked by the sun

The nights are warming, the views stretch the mind, the journey continues...

"How'd Fallon treat ya?"

Best Western - 3 Beds = $27 per person, plus truck parked for 5 days.

Mixed opinion on the Mexican restaurant. My Posole was fine, just not the best. La Fiesta.

The margarita hit the spot.

Fabulous adventure! Great photos! THANKS! I need a Nevada FIX.

From my experience NorCal and NorVada Mexican food is WEAK compared to the SoCal equivalent. Even the Mexican owned and operated places can't get it right up there.

Yeah...Fallon's no SD when it comes to dining of any kind - especially Mexican. On the other hand, there's no traffic...or communist hippies...

The boys are doing a good job of telling the story of the ride, so I'll just insert a few random pictures.

In the best SDAR tradition I told Juan to stop pulling the bike off Kug until I got a picture. In fairness to Ken this was a tricky little section and he didn't really crash just tipped over.

Looks like awesome weather...what elevations were you riding? and what were the normal temps day and night?......Love the stories.....visiting the "old west" and picturing those pioneers traveling by horse and wagon, makes you realize how tough those people were!!! love that stuff...thanks for sharing...

OK, so we are traveling down out of the Sheldon Antelope Refuge with Vague ideas of where camp will be tonight, 6:30 fish 200 miles in. Juan takes charge referencing paper maps and GPS, "There is a Road up this way"

Having no better options, off we go, up a sometime schetchy rock filled two track with major consequences for mistakes. Off cambers later, track opens to meadows and aspen grove.

Earlier, some guys"I don't need a beer tonight" HEll WITH THAT, I bought 6. Soon there is a necid guy doing Jimmy Hendricks improv

To his boom box. Best Camp award.

Photos anyone?
