Crawdaddy 96 Posted March 4, 2013 Kathy and I headed out to Bullhead last Thursday night.......on Friday I trailered the bike/quad up near a scenic ridge high above Lake Mojave.......I normally ride there from the house but I knew Kathy would have no interest in a ~80 mile loop.......so I watered it down to a more palatable ~15 - HA! Took about ~45 minutes to drive up there unload but I really wanted her to see the view(s)......well worth the trip.... Note the "street" plate on the quad......I like AZ. Laying back with a snack.....soaking in the views/sun Extend arm.....snap...... On Sat I rode off early/solo, hit Oatman for breakfast, then did a bit of recon in an area of interest between Oatman and Golden Valley Big country views......lot's to see/explore The streets of Oatman were pretty sparse at 8am......not a burro to be seen..... I took Hwy 66 over towards Kingman and turned off at the bottom of the grade towards Golden Valley on a major dirt road.......I was trying to find a way back through the mountains......limited success.......a few dead ends......a few locked gates.......but I eventually strung together some alternate trails........those who have been out with me before will be pleased to know I now have the ridges on both sides of "Woody's" strung together and an alternate way into Golden Valley/gas instead of the Poleline Rd./pavement... I also explored an area called Secret Pass/Canyon.......unfortunately this area is now "Designated Wilderness" so I got shut out on every spur I rode trying to get in legally......but it was still fun! A few more pics from yesterday's exploration This rolling two track leading away from "Woody's" has a few steep ups and downs before dropping into Secret Wash......good stuff/nice "adder" to the loop over to Golden Valley. Where does this go???.....now I know I also strung a track/trail together between "The Panty Tree" and "Finger Rock" Looking forward to showing many of you around in April:

Crawdaddy 96 Posted March 4, 2013 Looking forward to showing many of you around in April: I should add that I'm really happy Hoss and Bagstr talked me into the 5.3 Acerbis gas tank......nice to NOT worry about range when you're out exploring
TrophyHunter 15 Posted March 4, 2013 ....and it looks good on the bike, Thx for the front tire recommendation by the way....much better in the dirt. It has a place on my spare rim for those mostly off road days.
SCHWINN 0 Posted March 4, 2013 NO! Not tired of the Bullhead pics. Especially when they are always changing and those views... The streets of Oatman were pretty sparse at 8am......not a burro to be seen.....Quote!!! Years ago they they would corral them at at the north end of town to keep them safe from getting hit by cars and such and then let them out in the morning. I found this out when I was doing Laughlin alot back in the day and also Katherines Landing.

Guest Crusty Posted March 5, 2013 My plumber has properties there, he has been asking me to go stay and ride for the last 2 years. Asked us to go this weekend, today. It's hard to leave Carlsbad but maybe this weekend!!! Maybe after I show Cristina some of your pics she will want to go.
Dress4Less 162 Posted March 5, 2013 Great pics! Thanks for sharing!
Crawdaddy 96 Posted March 5, 2013 ....and it looks good on the bike I don't like the looks of the 5.3 tank....it's kinda big/fugly.......but the adjustment to the added ~1" of width on either side wasn't that big of a deal......the ~$100 difference in price between the 3.1 and 5.3 is money well spent for the reasons previously noted in other posts (minimal tank weight, carry 3 gallons lower than the stock tank carries 2, radiator protection, stooooopid range if you ever actually fill the tank)
Crawdaddy 96 Posted March 5, 2013 Maybe after I show Cristina some of your pics she will want to go. There's plenty of other "stuff" for Cristina to do while you're out riding......casinos, pool, beach, outlet store shopping, etc.... She might enjoy a spin over to Oatman for breakfast and/or just browsing around.......there's a major dirt road between Bullhead City and Oatman that can be driven in your car (Silver Creek Rd.)......distance is about ~20 miles.......or, if you park at the intersection of Bullhead Pkwy and Silver Creek Rd., you can unload the stickered CRF150 and ride over together on the dirt road....as you cruise along the road you'll see parallel trails/washes.....stay up top on the hard pack dirt road or drop down and goof off on the trails "together"
