Crawdaddy 96 Posted February 25, 2013 I think one of the the things I most enjoy about our annual club ride is the sense of family/camaraderie amongst the usual set of volunteers/participants.......I feel lucky to have so many moto friends/acquaintances........ This year was no exception........the weather gods cooperated with mid week rain/snow that minimized dust and the weather couldn't have been much better........bright sunshine/temps in 60's/70's I downloaded GPS tracks Friday night and Sat/Sun morning then fiddled around...... Sat I went on Burger n Brew ride with Strega, Bike Slut, the "Creativist", Bagstr, Tracy, & Mad Dog Mike..........only snapped one pic.......had to be quick before Bowers blocked my bike with his Great White ADV bike.... Today I rode with Tracy and DSFox after a scrumptious breakfast Snapped a pic of Deb riding up Jasper: Lunch at Christmas Circle with ~100 like minded Dual Sport riders: The colors will be popping in the desert in a month.......snagged this shot of Deb and Tracy earlier today: Hope to see many of you same knuckleheads at the CORE 4 Kids Fundraiser next month...... Guest Crusty Posted February 25, 2013 Cristina and I had lots of fun, great food, and a lot more.THANK'S EVERYONE!! I had an AWESOME ride Saturday, the trails were in great condition, beautiful scenery. This is the one ride a year that I do, where you can challenge yourself navigating a course. I rode a little slower than I like, but after last weeks crash,I was a little scared I only missed a few turns this year, (Thank's Crawdad and Sandiegoland) for setting me up with the GPS. The rain made things lots of fun (snow, mud, ice and a few big puddles) NO DUST. I took one pic of my SCOREBOARD here. Not bad for a fat old man on a worn out XR 650L. I didn't ride alone, I was with an old friend Ben Taylor all day. SEE ya next year. Craig.

hoss314 0 Posted February 25, 2013 Good times as usual! We were able to lock in the front house again as we have for the past few years. This time the weather was excellent! Lots of laughs around the camp fire every night! Locked up the house for next year as well so stop by for a beer and laughs next year. On to some pics....Not too many incriminating pics this year. The group this year must have been ready for action or were fast picking up their bikes. Started off on Saturday riding Pinyon Mountain.... Tim WALKING down Jeep Squeeze Rock Steps before H/A Ridge....never thought about the name "rock steps" until I looked at the pics and saw everybody with their foot on the rocks...."stepping" their way up Brock stepping up... Dan the Man Tim Schwinn... Schwinn just before he got the shakes he was reminded of some previous pics I had posted...so he jammed up to H/A Ridge to go down first so I wouldn't get his picture Second Dan on steps Dan II Step Eric Step Everybody through...now on to Heart Attack Ridge. Schwinn was waiting for me at the bottom with his camera. I parked and we watched Tim come flying down We thought he must have just pointed the bike and closed his eyes...ended like a champ! never had time to get camera out to catch Tim down. Dan Dan II Eric Somehow I missed Brock coming down the hill.... Now for Fairchild Hill... Tim (aka Banzai) Dan II Got One!! Dan the man Eric cleaned it! Then on to Fish Creek.... We rode in n out of Sandstone Canyon but I didn't take any pics. Then moved on to diablo Tim motoring up.. Dan Eric Dan II Then we rode through Arroyo Seco Del Diablo to Canyon Sin Nombre across S2 to make our way to lunch in Ocotillo. On our way we rode Dos Cabezas. One fun hill to climb on our way. Dan II Tim right before he got stuck at the last step up....he went back down and ended up going up another way. Dan displacing some dirt Brock cleaning it Eric flying up No more pics for Saturday. Sunday we rode....tired of typing so that's all you get Dan II Fish Creek Eric Fish Creek Brock Dan We rode a lot of the Desert Dash tracks...(some in reverse before everybody would be out on that section of the course) and played in other areas such as the mud caves etc. Great time! tntmo 887 Posted February 25, 2013 I'd be interested in seeing bike demographics by manufacturer. Percentage of KTM, Honda, etc.
hoss314 0 Posted February 25, 2013 I'd be interested in seeing bike demographics by manufacturer. Percentage of KTM, Honda, etc. At the risk of "opening a can of worms" 6 - KTM's 1 - Husky in my group
Daniel 0 Posted February 25, 2013 Daniel found out the jumping cholla had been sharing its techniques with the other flora in the area. So....this was my first real crash on the bike(only been riding 1.5 months). Apparently I was a bit too calm when Wintyfresh came back after I called on the radio. Just a bit sore in general today but had a blast. Can't wait till next year!
bikeslut 1 Posted February 25, 2013 I'd be interested in seeing bike demographics by manufacturer. Percentage of KTM, Honda, etc. If I had to guess, KTMs were a good precentage of bikes- I didn't see any GS1200s this year, but there might have been some- Bikes ranged from 230Ls up to a Ural sidecar rig and everything in between- lots of DRZs, XR650s in both flavors, DR650s, KLRs, Huskies, etc
paulmbowers 236 Posted February 25, 2013 Nearly all "small" bikes.
Guest Crusty Posted February 25, 2013 I'd be interested in seeing bike demographics by manufacturer. Percentage of KTM, Honda, etc. I passed LOL. 3 Honda 4 Husky 2 Suzuki and about 20 KTM Before the lunch stop at 9:40am. Then it was clear sailing.

bikeslut 1 Posted February 25, 2013 Nearly all "small" bikes. Well...big bikes aren't meant for desert conditions Normally I would apologize for posting a sideways picture

My kid was wondering who that jerk on the honda was going so slow and putting his feet down in the wash. I said I think it was Crusty.
paulmbowers 236 Posted February 25, 2013 Jeeze. I kicked ass all over the desert. Ripped up big sand traps, hopped over rocky sections, kept a lively pace the entire day with all the baby bikes. And did anyone post a cool pic of any of that? Oh, nooooooo. Just the one little bobble. No respect. Maybe Tracy will post something nice.
