    Rider missing in OTAY area

Thought I would chime in as I went out and rode this morning in the search. I bumped into some of the members on here who said they had covered the majority of the sycamore/marron trails yesterday. I spoke to sheriff’s search and rescue this morning and they asked for bikes to hit the single tracks on the side of the mountain near the prison. I started at the prison this morning and rode all of the single track from that side up to doghouse. I followed all of the trails down the south side to the border road as one of the searchers said he may have taken one of them as a shortcut to get home. The only thing I saw was tracks on the wider trails from Bortac’s quads. Everywhere else I went was way overgrown or hadn’t been ridden in a while. I was out from 7-noon and at that point, they believed that all of the trails on that side of the mountain had been checked. They were numbering off outside turns and had hikers heading down the canyons. I believe others on here may be right that he is further east toward dulzura. It just doesn’t seem likely that he is on the southwest side unless he scooted off a canyon and couldnt move or tried to walk downhill to get out. The sheriff’s dept told me that he spoke to someone saturday near the gun range on marron and had told them that his front tire was bald and causing issues. He had a lot of miles left with a half tank. I rode the entire west side and all the way to marron and back to jamul on a stock tank and had a quarter tank left. Stay safe out there. I hope he is found soon.
  2. There was going to be a video with this but iMovie crashed on me at the end of my edit and I don't have the patience to do the whole thing again. Unfortunately I only took 2 pictures as everything else was video on my gopro. My friends and I were supposed to do some exploring out by Thing Valley on Saturday morning but one of them didnt show up for the ride and so we decided to add some miles. Started in Alpine and headed up and over Viejas Grade, left on Oak Grove and out to the 3 Sisters Fall trailhead where we took 13S11 down to the back entrance for Cedar Creek Falls. Came across quite a few hikers who looked like they regretted their trail choice for the day and a couple who look like they mistook 13S11 for the actual 3 sister's trail head. Neither of us had ever been out this way before so it was pretty cool to see those canyons. From there we headed up Eagle Peak road and out to Julian for some lunch. The place was packed so we grabbed some sandwiches at the corner market and then took off toward Laguna. Did some exploring and headed down Sunrise to 80. We headed to Thing Valley and did that loop before takin the 80 and Viejas Grade back to Alpine. The only casualty for the weekend was a squirrel that had bad timing on Eagle Peak.

    New From Alpine

Haha thanks guys. Unfortunately I'm already going on another ride this weekend with some old friends but I will try to make one here soon. That picture was taken at the top of Bear Mountain last weekend. My brother and some friends took me riding up there for my bachelor party. Perfect weather and over 250 miles in the dirt. It was pretty dusty up there though.

    New From Alpine

Hey guys, I recently signed up here. I am from Jamul but currently live up here in Alpine. I'm sure I have seen some of you guys out on the trail or maybe you have seen myself and my group. I usually hit the roads and trails around Alpine, Descanso, east of Laguna or out in Borrego. I'm on an old 1990 DR350s and there is another DR and a couple of orange bikes I ride with. Hopefully planning on doing the big dualsport ride you guys do every year down in the desert and I'll be sure to post up some ride reports when I get a chance.
