Yes, leaving 8:30 from gas station in front of Brodies to Honey Springs and beyond. Might be just Jimmer and I on BMW's for the ride out. Don't know if others will show up there or meet at Majors. Looking forward to seeing you Mike.

Majors Diner in Pine Valley is closing their doors. This iconic local spot will be quite missed due to the riding communities history here, so let's go and bid them good luck and farewell. Anyone wanting to meet and ride out, let's start at the 7-11 gas station in front of Brodies on 94 (Campo Road) and ride to Pine Valley via Honey Springs, etc. 32.728258795586775, -116.90887767875198 https://goo.gl/maps/qpnfeY2aVNXLm56y5 Kick stands up at 8:30. Should be at Major's by 9:30 for breakfast and/or coffee. Helmets on around 10:30 for a ride up Pine Creek Rd to Sunrise Hywy. Loop around to Lake Cuyamaca, Engineers Rd to Boulder creek and then home. Plated bikes only of course and should be able to ride at highway speeds (65mph). I'll be on the 1250 GS. There are several bail out points for those that need to be home before 2pm.

There’s always Uber. And I’m not gonna ride you b*tch unless you are injured. 😉 -

^^^^^ I think you missed the point. But, yeh we should all get together more and become actual friends and not just keyboard buddies. Nothing like a good coffee and donut, or icey cold beer face to face to get to know your community. Great suggestion 3fiddy. -
5 Offroad Techniques you need to know

Doh! IRC tire guy is who I was thinking of when I replied (I should know better than to multi task). These two channels are among my most enjoyed channels right now. -
Definitely one of my favorite routes!! Glad you made lemonade out of your day.
-
Hey, I resemble that remark!! Actually I hope no one here actually believes that about me.

I have huge respect for him and enjoy his channel. There is a lot of his stuff that translates to ADV bikes. And of course some that don’t. But his current series of 10 lessons is VERY good stuff. Are you actually practicing any of it? Most watch but don’t do. Practice is the key to growth -

Yes. I’ll even help you pick the bike up. ✅ April is full but we might have a cancellation. March might still have a spot or two. -
Old school DS ride up in my neighborhood....

I know!! I was surprised the truck bailed out. WTH?! Granted, I've not 4WD'd mud like that. But I have ridden it in Colorado. I pushed the locked up front wheel for awhile in spite of it, but that didn't last too long. Too slick to put a foot down and hold the bike. Had to get in a rut and stay in it to just stay on the trail. We quickly tired of that game and picked out way back out. Did a simple 180, like a slow motion overweight ballerina . . . No getting out of there until that fender was removed. Mud packed up in there like concrete. -
^^^ see, that's the thing. People say "I don't need all that high level stuff because I don't ride like you". And there in lies the rub. My worst injuries all happened in first gear. My broken clavicle happened at 1 mph, slipping the clutch in first gear on a smooth grass lawn. Yet, years ago I T-boned a deer in Idaho at about 50mph. Totaled the bike and killed the deer. Walked away from it with hardly a scratch. Go figure.

I'm digging your pack/armor rig. Nice work! So you obviously wear that over your jersey . . . ?

Old school DS ride up in my neighborhood....

They were the genesis of todays Adv bike movement. I miss the economy and the simplicity of those days. …. Right up until I sling a leg over my 1250. 😂 Here’s my dad Adventure riding his Yamaha 80 across Idaho. I really enjoyed that movie. Half expected @tntmo to make a guest appearance in the middle of that snow storm and rescue them with a stick of chewing gum and a shoelace. -
I pretty much have MM’s whole showroom in my garage. Come on over and check it out if you like. I’ll share what I like and don’t like and why.

That is exactly the route I am going based on living and riding mostly in the Southwest. just ordered the Marakesh yesterday. For cold days I’ll run the Mosko Moto Ektotherm puffy under it. For really cold starts I’ll plug it into the bike and turn it on “roast” mode. For rain and snow I’ll throw a rain shell over the top of everything. All pieces can pack and stow in a small space so I don’t end up looking like a gypsy wagon or worse …. A GS rider. 🤷♂️🤣👌

No kidding. Quote of the day right there. it doesn’t have to be. But often is. Your level of protection kind of depends on how and where you ride. Actually that’s not true. It depends on where and how you crash. I’ve seen riders with the Forma boots mentioned above (I call them bedroom slippers) spend a week crashing in Baja and walk away loving their boots. And then watched a rider simply drop their bike at 2 mph on a hill, and break their leg inside a top of line $700 MX boot. If you are just getting into ADV riding just about any modern ADV clothing will suffice. Buy them based on temperatures and weather you expect. Used gear is a huge market and I buy and sell about half of my ‘inventory’ used. Just gotta remember to keep selling!!! if all one can afford is a flannel shirt, work boots and a yard sale helmet, then for gosh sakes do it. That’s how most of us started. I tend to go the other way and seem to be on a path of try it all, buy it all. My wife has concerns. your budget will pretty much determine your next move. Give us a number and the group brain trust here will have more ideas for you. $250? $500? $1000? $1500? and let us know the ratio of street to dirt you hope to ride…. Good lord, I’m heading down the rabbit hole…

Perhaps one finger, and you know which one. LOL!
-
Awesome. Will be great to see you again.

Only because they aren't spending every waking minute changing oil, tightening and replacing chains, and fixing flats, and replacing fuel pumps. I think I'mma go get some manicure on later this morning. Hey, when you have a moment bring me that bourbon we discussed cause I have time to drink it now. And I think you do too.

I guess it didn't take.8-)

Titanium??!! And all I got was a cheap ol Stainless Steel plate. I was going to send it out to have a BMW logo laser engraved on it but the surgeon was in too dam much of a hurry. I guess I'll have to just get the tattoo instead. -

It was nothing that a little hardware implant couldn't rectify. I'm blaming that for my weight gain. -
