  1. THanks for the info. We will bypass for now. We have a pretty fun detour still just adds some time before we can enjoy those pacificos...
  2. Its been a while, i dont recall exactly. I remember that we all were low on fuel (sawmill didnt have fuel) and turning back wasnt happening so we made our own route and it wasnt pretty Were you able to get through that gate?
  3. Hi All, We've been riding to Mike's from Tecate 2-3 times a year for the past 20 years or so and getting ready for another trip this week. On your way down to Mikes after going through the sawmill is a left turn you can make. We used to always take this left except about 8 years ago we ran into a locked gate and had to detour. Ever since we'd leave the saw mill and skip this turn and go a different route that really added tons of miles to our trek. Revisiting the topic again. Does anyone know if you can take that left directly after the sawmill or if its still a no go? The turn is at N31° 59.453' W115° 57.519' Thanks, Jeremy

    Mexican Visa, Tecate

Hi there, We go down to Mikes twice a year (heading that way end of Nov). 80% of us do not stop and get the Visa however there is a small group that does. I'll get the specifics from them. If I recall correctly there is an immigration office near secondary inspection right after you cross in Tecate. They do it all online and get it stamped when entering mexico. Good for 6months. https://www.bajabound.com/before/permits/mexicoFMMonline.php

    Escondido to Lake Henshaw

Is Black Mountain TT to Mesa TT Open all the way to the 76? Once I hit the 76 right there its a hop, skip and a jump if I just drive up to E Grade. Be really cool if I could connect to the Pamo Rd area from Escondido on the dirt. Unfortunately, no. Your only option from Pamo Rd. would be either to take Black Canyon Rd. all the way to Mesa Grande and go north on slab from there. Or you could take Santa Ysabel TT to Black Canyon Rd. and follow the same route. Mesa TT, Guejito, and those other routes are not viable. And don't confuse Black Mountain TT with Black Canyon Rd. People often interchange these but they are different. From the 76, Nate Harrison grade would be your only dirt option on the north side of Palomar. I'm curious, how large is the property your friend purchased? Thanks for the info. I think he said it was around 80 acres.

    Escondido to Lake Henshaw

Hi there, A friend of mine recently purchased a bunch of land up on Palomar on the East Grade side. Was thinking it would be pretty cool if I could ride up from Escondido to that area. Anyone know of any routes? Is Guejito Road open to Guejito Truck Trail up by Lake Wohlford? If So, is Guejito Truck Trail open to Rte 11S01? And/Or (If the below is open I and the above isn't I can always ride up the 78 to Pamo rd and then..) Is Forrest Rte 11S01 open? Can I take that all the way to Mesa Truck Trail and then Mesa Truck Trail all the way to the 76? I realize I'll have to take E Grade up the Mountain, thats fine.. Just trying to plan out a cool way to get there. I also realize I can ride up into Ramona and then Pamo Rd to Black Mountain to Mesa Grande and then come down and around the lake on the S2 but I'd prefer to do a cool route. Any thoughts would be great. THanks, Jeremy

    Escondido to Ramona Trail

Or what about just Esco up to ramona anywhere.. from there i can beat the pavement to Pamo or wherever.. Looks like by lake wohlford there are some dirt roads that go into ramona. Guejito Truck trail? On a side note, is is possible to go from Pamo Rd. to Lake Henshaw? Looks like Black Mountain has trails leading that way.

    Escondido to Ramona Trail

Hi there, Brand new to the forums and brand new to dual sporting! Not new to dirt-biking as I've been riding a dirt-bike for the past 15 years. Sold my '09 WR450 and purchased a 14 KTM 350 EXC. Loving it so far. Mostly our group only rides down in Baja (got burnt out on the legal offroad areas). But now that I have a plate I feel like the sky is the limit! I live in East Escondido and just this past weekend went up and explored Orosco Ridge and it was a pretty neat area. I see a little further down that same road is a Black Mountain trail, that looks neat too. I pretty much have zero interest of riding on the pavement for extended periods. I have the plate to get me into plated offroad areas like Anza Borrego and the like. The main reason for my post is to see if anyone knows of any legal ways to ride from Escondido to some of the trails in ramona with minimal pavement. On google earth I can see a number of dirt roads and trails that meet up with these different trails however I am not sure who owns them and what not. Anyone have any thoughts? Thank you so much Jeremy
