Most PTT go to ground on the radio. You could make a Y cable and have the handle bar PTT and a chest PTT button. Just connect and disconnect from the handle bars getting on and off. The chest PTT is always connected. Check with the radio maker first. David KE6UPI Thanks Rich for the idea..

FYI I know they are some non ham's using ham freqs. (I don't care if you are. I'm not bitching.) But they are license free Vhf we can use. The called MURS or Color Dot. Also fun to play with. You can hear orders at McDonald as well. If you own a non ham radio have fun with the MURS freqs. http://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/multi-use-radio-service-murs-0 check other freqs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_band 73's KE6UPI David -
Newb Radio Purchase: BaoFeng vs Rugged Radios?
KE6UPI replied to Goofy Footer's topic in Communications
I have two of the UV-5R radios. For around 30 bucks they work well. on eBay you can buy a battery eliminator and larger batteries. The larger batteries have a charging port on them and not sure if you can run the radio and charge at the same time. You can get a battery case that holds 6 AA's if you want. I would pickup a programing cable for 10 bucks and use the free "chrip" programing software. By two cents David -

What about the Adventure?? It's a 12 hour ride to Salt Lake.. I have made two Vegas trips on my KLR650.. Yea it's boring ride, but it's an Adventure.... Break up the trip. Stop in Vegas then move on to Utah.. If you think your bike can make it ride it.
