Educational Vid about Legally Transporting A Firearm
Vacman replied to Mikey777's topic in A Forum for GENERAL PHOTOS & Videos
There's a ton of FUD in that video and in this thread, unfortunately. I suggest that anyone who wants to exercise their rights under the law actually take the time to read the actual law and understand it. Incorrect items in the video: Ammo does not need to be stored separately. You can have loaded magazines in the same container as the locked pistol and you're fine as long as there is nothing loaded in the gun and no magazine is in the receiver. You do not have to make the weapon inoperable. Inside a case is sufficient as long as there's a lock on the case. A lockable saddlebag is considered a lockable container. It satisfies the requirement of "fully enclosed and locked by a key lock." You do not have to have it "as far out of reach as possible." If it's in a locked container, it could be in your lap and you're still legal. Stupid, but legal. This also applies to automobiles. You cannot use a glove box or center console as your lockable container; however, you can store your locked gun case in the glove or center console without issue. Again, if you took the time to watch that video, take a bit more time to actually educate yourself. There exists a ton of information on how to properly and legally transport firearms. There are forums dedicated to california firearms (calguns.net) and entire subforums dedicated to CA law. There's a lot of misinformation out there (including information coming from LEO's and attorneys) so make sure you actually understand the laws as they relate to you. Tim A couple links to get you started if you've read this far: https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/travel https://web.archive.org/web/20151109211444/http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/Transporting -
Funny, I was literally telling my wife last weekend that lanesplitters out here could benefit from having a light high on their helmet for visibility. Not sure the price is warranted versus a $15 bicycle light, but the concept is great.

You sure it's not fuel related? Seems much more likely with a dormant bike than a sudden electrical glitch.

I have the same set. They're definitely light but provide minimal leverage. Better than nothing but I'd go with something bigger. -
Post on advrider. You'll have lots of company. Be safe!

Last Day of Winter Riding Dual Dual Sport - 19Mar16
Vacman replied to Travis Gill's topic in 1 to 3 Day Ride Write-Ups, Stories and Photos
Another great recap. Nicely done to you and your wife. -
Photobucket creates IMG code automatically so you can paste directly off of an image link rather than using the forum software. It also allows you to generate IMG code for an entire folder with just a few clicks which is tremendously helpful when posting FS threads, ride reports, etc that have lots of pics. It's the only reason why I keep photobucket around. I have pics in Google Drive, but there's no easy way to share anything more than a link to the folder.

That price is $412 now. And you better make sure you know your size or you have ship back to Germany at your expense. No it's not. You're looking at it with VAT included which obviously doesn't apply and is backed out when you ship them outside the EU. I carried it to the end a could have ordered a pair today. It's not like this is something new or unique...people have been buying from FC moto (and other euro shops) for years. Don't spread misinformation if you haven't even done a bit of homework yourself. I can tell you from firsthand experience that it's no different than buying from any other online vendor, except way cheaper. I had my boots in 4 days via DHL from when my order was accepted. That's nearly faster than Revzilla (who are now owned by CycleGear, btw.) And regarding shipping something back, if you don't know your size in Sidi of course you should go try them on locally first. But if you know your Sidi size they run true.

There's also this one, which I think we discussed via PM. http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/2007-ktm-990-adventure-in-san-diego.1130420/ You could probably get it for $7400 without much effort. Safari tanks alone are $1600+ install, and George did $1300 in suspension. That's $3k right there! It's an awesome bike...yes, I owned it for a bit before I sold it to Mark's buddy in AZ.
-
Also there's a new boot called the MX Extreme (the X3 here?) that slots between the crossfire and charger. Still not worth skimping on, IMO...spend the $70 more and get the best.
-
Crossfire 2 is well worth the extra bucks. Lots of stories out there of broken bones with lesser boots. I've owned the equivalent of the Charger...they're better than some, but not great at ankle protection. They're more of an ADV boot. Check out fc-moto. https://www.fc-moto.de/epages/fcm.sf/sec68fd75b552/?ObjectPath=/Shops/10207048/Products/Sidi-Crossfire-2-Boots-2016/SubProducts/Sidi-Crossfire-2-Boots-2016-0005 The 2016 crossfire is only $368 shipped to your door:

Buy Kkug's 800GS. Well sorted, Elka rear shock, awesome history and reasonably inexpensive. http://dualsport-sd.com/forums/index.php?/topic/21248-f800gs-bmw-2009/

Tell me what you know about the Full Size Bronco
Vacman replied to Goofy Footer's topic in Equipment & Technical Forum
The 80 series land cruiser came with solid axles, electronic front, rear and center locking differentials and is universally praised as being ridiculously overbuilt. It is the gold standard for rtw vehicles and has been used on every continent as an expeditionary vehicle. The bronco...you're lucky if you can still find one on the road. I'm not talking the gen 1 bronco, I'm talking about the ojmobile. -

Can't hold a candle to a comparable Land Cruiser, but decent for a domestic. -
