Another tidbit from the show...a new ride planning website
Oracle replied to Afry's topic in Open Discussion
nice to know, thanks for posting. -
I haven't ridden in two weeks since I've been travelling. I had an opportunity to jump on the 950 this morning so I called up VanJoosten and we set out for another adventure. When we left Ramona, it was in the mid 30's. Our route took us through Ramona, Santa Ysabelle, Julian, Anza Borrego, and back. At the highest altitudes it was in the high 20's. There was fresh snow on some of the peaks.....and I was a tad cold but it was still doable. So, as far as whether conditions and temperature go, where do you draw the line? Is the high end apparel like Klim worth the money in adverse whether conditions? Any advise on staying warm?
-
BTW, snow is expected above 3000' tomorrow. Who wants to ride???
-
Yeah, the dirt was amazing today. And like I said, the cold, even in the 30's, was doable. But it would have been nice to have warm hands and warms...um, well, never mind. I used hand warmer packs in my gloves, which helped a tad. Next time I'll throw a pack in my drawers too... :heh:/> Afry mentioned grip heaters....that looks like a decent option as the KTM setup is only $100 and easy to install. They are on my short list. I also spent over and hour researching heated gear...damn, that stuff looks nice but the price adds up fast. ...and it actually gave me an idea about doing wireless heated gloves, but I can't share the details yet until I submit my patent :coolio:/>

Oracle replied to Crawdaddy's topic in Open Discussion
I have a nice 16'x8', dual axle you can barrow, no problem. It has ramps and is ready to go. I live off Highland Valley Rd., about 2 miles west of 67. PM if interested. -
Hey boys, I hope you made it out there today. I just got home from three days out there and today was by far the best of the three days. Friday and Saturday were extremely windy. Today = awesome.

Glad you made it there safe. I hit SYTT, Black Mtm TT, Lusardi TT, etc today and was thinking of you. I roosted some sections in your honor.

Sorry, I'm out. Got ordered to work mandatory OT. :angry2:/> :angry2:/> :angry2:/> -
The wife and I have stayed here before. It just reopened after being purchased by a new owner. http://www.lacasadelzorro.com/ If you plan on renting quads for the kids or a SXS, you better make reservation asap. You could also camp at Palm Canyon campground.

Dad's Day Off in the Desert

My vote, in order of preference, would be option 1, option 2, then option 3...and that's simply based on the fact that I've done option 3 many times, but never option 1 or 2. Approximate staging time?
