  1. Yep, they raised my insurance for no reason after 5 years. No accidents, nothing. Had to switch.
  2. $500 to $72, wow. California wants us all on public transport and bicycles
  3. why would it go UP!!?? makes no sense!
  4. 20 years broham. Still gets me.
  5. Damn dude. Can't believe the fees on your bikes! Even the CRV.... Well, I guess I'm not crazy then, I was just scratching my head this am wondering what the heck
  6. Ha ha, been here 20 years, but yeah...sometimes when they stick it to ya, you feel it.
  7. Question - my 2008 V-strom is worth maybe 2K at best on a good day. Probably less than that. Just got my registration renewal today it's $131? That's like 7% of the value. Is there a way to get depreciation factored in or something? I've owned the bike about 7 years. @DSM8 I'm sure you've got some intel on this....

    Paul aka Shooby

Bit late on posting on here, but just wanted to re-introduce myself to SDAR again in light of all this. I'm Ted aka "stoke". Along with Paul (shooby) and Josh @downs I ran one WARPED rally back in the day. I met Paul off of advrider and here, same with josh. We rode as a crew locally pretty frequently and hit a few rallies as well. Paul was a good dude, the best riding partner anyone could ask for. Patient, even when waiting for my slow ass to catch up lol. We did a lot of SDAR rides together. Anyhow, I used to attend the NOOB rides pretty frequently and always had a blast exploring these areas of San Diego few people even know exist. I also usually pop out to @DSM8's place for tech days when he does one of those-the last one I picked up the new SDAR shirts, bitchen. Looking forward to starting to ride more here again. Took a bit of time off for a work transition last couple of years, but missing the rides. Still riding the same bike, 2008 vstrom. Just joined the FB group as well. I'm "Theodore" on FB, my full legal name
  10. Don't blame ya! We have about 68 people so far, I'd like to hit 75 or so, but I'm happy with the number so far. That's just about the right size for a good party.
  11. Shooby: will do, good point. Afry, man, you missed last year's too! Bummed you can't make this one either.
  12. Dan, thanks for starting this thread! I'm the organizer this year, along with Shooby, Downs, and more than a few others helping out in the background. The basic idea is you get a ticket, and that comes with a truly outstanding campground reservation on the Kern River, a catered dinner on saturday night on site, and damn near unlimited keg craft beer. Show up and throw your tent down where there's space. Some of the members like Shunka brew the beer on their own for us, and the rest are from microbreweries, which Shooby organized this year. Grab a cup and go. Riding is as hard/easy/singletrack/fire road/pavement as you make it. Some guys ride hard all day, do night rides with crazy helmet lights and some guys just hang out and bullshit. Last year I did some light two up touring on and off pavement, and saw one of the most beautiful waterfalls I've ever seen. WARPED has no agenda, no organized rides, no corporate sponsors, no bullshit-just awesome people in an awesome setting. Should be about 80 or so people this year. We just had a guy visit Mountain and River Adventures campground yesterday, and he stated is was 85 degrees with the water level on the river looking good. Who knows what the weather will be a couple weeks from now, but all good signs. This year we have a LOT of smaller bike guys coming, plus of course the dreadnought sized beast crowd . The people are what make any event, and this is great people combined with outstanding riding and a really fun camp environment. If you're thinking about coming, post up here vs going on the WARPED thread on advrider. The thread is...interesting to say the least. Lot of off color in jokes and whatnot. All in good humor, but a lot of b.s. to sort through this late in the game.
  13. Lurking, shooby told me about this ride, and it looks really fun. Would be riding the new to me KTM 640. I'll update during the week.
  14. Those were really good, and you certainly didn't hesitate to snatch one up !
