    Bmw f800gs or ?

F800GSA FTW - does everything right.... I'm a KTM guy too - but still love the beamer
  2. I had to put a deposit down, the Supermoto is calling my name. I had a 450 Summo a while back (2009) and miss that bike daily. I considered doing the 701 enduro model instead, but I already have a 350ktm that I can dual Sport - and the F800GS that I put knobs on... I think I"m pretty well covered for off pavement. Just trying to add a set of 17's to an Enduro wasn't an option - it would have been just more money and you'd still have a small dirt oreinted front brake a tall suspension - so just going straight Summo was the call I made. I looked to nearly every shop in SoCal and only found 1 shop with a supermoto not spoken for already. I'm all about supporting my local dealer, but Husqvarna USA made it impossible to do that with the rediculously low allocations of the supermoto version. some shops are getting none, and others are getting a total on 1 per shop... they'll be more of the enduro version, but I have a feeling they'll all be gone sooner rather than later. I can't wait till she comes in. (Up in Castaic) Bikes are shipping to other parts of the USA, but not in the good'ole Republic of California - still awaiting CARB approval. So hopefully it's not much longer...
  3. We all met the Veys in El Cajon on Friday morning. Got the route sheets, signed waivers and introduced ourselves. We all head out toward Dudleys in Santa Isabel - stopped for lunch. Most people were on larger Adventure bikes - a few had KLR's & XR 650s - so I believe they topped up gas - After lunch we head up and over Julian down Banner and turned right toward Ocotillo off the 8 - rode through the windmill farm and grabbed gas. Made out way out to the AZ border - stopped for gas one last time before making our way toward our camp on the Colorado River at Picacho state park. Making our way out to camp down a 15 mile long dirt road all loaded down with all of our camping gear made for a few pucker factor moments - but we all arrived to camp just before dark and setup camp. Jason Thomas from Klim came with a support Van all loaded with coolers and BBQ grills - we ate like champs - Steak and chicken tacos on Friday night. Saturday we filled our bellies again with fresh cooked egg burritos with left over chicken ... and got ready to head out on some trails. Trying to keep 20+ riders all together was a challenge, but we made it work. Around mid day we split the group in 2 and 10 or so in each group went separate routes - some challenging trails, that would have been easy on my KTM 350, were all I could handle on the GS - This was a new experience for me, one that I can't wait to try again. Made some new riding friends for life - Saturday night we all regrouped back at camp and fired up the fire pit again - I think I hit the sack early pretty tired and sore. Sunday morning I needed to head out early, a small group of 6 headed back bright and early. We got back out to the highway and aired back up to street pressure on our knobby tires and started the trip back to SD> We took the route through Glamis and out through Ocotillo Wells - made a quick restroom pit stop at the Blue Inn before making our way back home - went up and over Pali and a couple did Nate Harrison on the way down. Made it home around 1pm in one piece... still haven't unpacked or washed the bike - it's a dusty mess, and the windshield is covered in bugs. Big thanks to Klim, and Veys Motorsprts for hosting this great 3 day event.

    Any Big Adv Bike rides?

Thanks guys - look forward to meet you out on the road (or trail or both!) I'vE got a TKC80 front unmounted that I got with the bike used...I just need a rear - those Mitas look to be a good blend that will still function on road - I say I'll ride 70/30 road/offroad) so not looking for full knobbies.
  8. I just recently picked up a BMW F800GS - looking to try some big-bike rides. Is there a forum area for riders of the big bikes? I haven't got knobbies yet, so my dirt riding is only on my KTM - I'm looking to do some local loops and get my feet wet. Looking for other guys (or gals) to do some adv riding. I'm free on weekends, unlike a lot of ride posts I see here - I can't do weekdays, I've got to work:(
  9. PM Sent - thanks - yeah we're looking for more families to link up with. My wife rides a little too - she's got a TTR 230 - but currently one of us needs to stay at camp with the boys - they're not ready for long rides - mainly because they get stuck so often due to the training wheels - it's be another season or two before they can cruise very long...
  10. My 2 boys are starting to ride ( sorry to say, currently with training wheels) so they need hard-pack and open areas. We've been going to Ocotillo and Superstition, this is our second season for them on the PeeDubb50 and the TTR50 (I've been riding forever, but until recently didn't have kids._ We have a motorhome and my wife rides a TTR 230 and I have a 350excf. We camp on most weekends in our motorhome. Just looking for other people to join so our kids have some buddies to ride with and more importantly play with around camp. Hit me up if you have kids who ride or are just learning - we hang with friends who have older kids, and that's great but they take off on longer rides and my boys aren't yet ready to go too far out there yet...

    Riding Monday (unplated)

I rode up there yesterday later in the day (from 5-6pm) was pretty fun - ran into a couple other guys on a Honda and a KTM 2 stroke. If anyone wants to link up for an after-work ride in North County I'd like to find a partner - my bike is plated so I can met wherever. But I work 8-5 every weekday, but now the sun is up later I can squeeze in a late one here and there - or on weekends. This upcoming weekend weather is looking cooler temp wise.
