Sorry for the late reply. It's varies, but tends to idle fine and act up on acceleration primarily. It's worse off road or on bumpy roads.

I'll send him a PM, thanks.

That's what I thought too originally. I ended up pulling the carb apart three times and did a thorough cleaning with compressed air and carb cleaner. Also took apart the petcock, cleaned the tank, and confirmed the cap was venting. Fuel system checked out, so I'm just left with ignition.

Hey guys, I let my DRZ sit for about two months because of a busy work schedule. I recently got her up and running again with new fork seals, cleaned carb, etc and noticed I'm having an ignition issue now. It cuts out and misses but it's not consistent, so I'm having trouble pinpointing it. I've looked over the wiring harness and have tested/swapped every electrical component except the stator. It's an original stator and I suspect the pickup coil is bad, but again I can't seem to pinpoint it since it's not consistent. I was hoping someone on here might be willing to let me borrow a spare to test on my bike to confirm it's the culprit before I drop the dough on a new one. if so, please shoot me a text/call. Thanks in advance! Nick 951-514-5533

My gf and I are going out Friday and Saturday as well. We'll most likely be parking in Ocotillo Wells. -
I'm not going to be able to get it to you until next Thursday. If ADV Bum can have his to you sooner, you can just take his. Maybe I'll watch the how to instead.

I'm going out to Ocotillo Wells Friday night and Saturday with some friends. I'll do some exploring while I'm out there.

My rear shock could really use a service. I'd really like to learn about servicing it too if you don't mind me watching.

Wow, thank you guys, lots of good info here. I'm looking for easier trails so I can bring my girlfriemd too. She's new, but starting to really take a likimg to the dualsport scene. I figure exploring some areas new to both of us will be fun. She's in school, so it's going to be a few more weeks before the semester's over and we can plan a trip. I'll post here when we go if anyone wants to tag along that doesn't mind being a little patient.

I'm not very familiar with the street legal trails in the state park. I'm looking for trails that a beginner can ride and learn on, i.e. two track, smalls hills. Anyone have suggestions on specific trails?
-
Thanks guys, and yep, stoked the girlfriend is taking an interest. Not the first time I've heard about George. I need to get my shock done. I'll get ahold of him when I do.

Hey guys, I haven't been on here for a year and a half maybe. Sold my old DRZ and was busy with life. Recently picked up another older model DRZE for a good price and I'm just about finished with a complete rebuild...all new bearings, 434 kit, suspension, etc. Should have it going by this weekend. Picked up a mint XT225 for my girlfriend too. She's new to riding, but learning quick. Hope to start jumping on some local rides again. Anything new around here lately?
-
Yep, kickstart only here. It's an easy bike to start and I'm young, so I don't mind. 249lb dry, so nearly 50lbs lighter than the S and reasonably peppy with the cams, FCR, and higher compression. Honestly, it reminds me of the older WRs with a little less power and a bit less suspension capability. If I had to replace it, I don't think I'd even consider the S model just because of the amount of money and work it would require to be comparable.

I didn't know him, but very disheartening news nonetheless. Rest in Peace. -
Truck MPG - Whatcha Gettin?
Desertrunner replied to Goofy Footer's topic in Equipment & Technical Forum
2000 F-150 5.4L Automatic w/ 223k on the clock. Extended cab 4x4. Still runs great, although I recently had to replace the plastic intake manifold. 12.5 MPG mixed hwy/city. 14-15 MPG easy highway. Goes down as speeds increase over 70mph. 11 MPG city I need my truck, but can't afford to drive it work/school on a daily basis and pay $400 a month in gas for commuting alone. Hence I recently picked a GS500F for commuting. Just topped off earlier today and got 61 MPG this week. Insurance was $200 for the year for full coverage combined with my DRZ. The bike should pay for itself in roughly 9 months. I have a touring windshield and bar risers on order. It's like riding a sewing machine down the road compared to the dirt bike.
