    Riding in and around Pahrump

Thank you Both. I will reach out to them and see what I can come up with.
  2. I've been going to Pahrump for years, but mostly to race cars at Spring Mountain. Last month we bought a house out there, so I"m trying to find new trails and how to get around out there by dirt. Does anyone happen to have GPS tracks for the area? I checked a thread from a while back, but couldn't find any GPS tracks. Any help would be great! We tried to ride to Dumont last time out but ran into a lot of nature preserve areas, so we turned back. Does anyone know if there's a route from Pahrump to Dumont without going through reserves without taking pavement? I'm also trying to figure out if there's a way to get to Mt. Charleston by going up Wheeler and over the mountain. We keep hitting dead ends in some of the valleys, but it looks like it's possible on Google Earth? We would also like to find a good route to and around Death Valley. Any tips or GPS tracks of the area would be great! Thank you!

Drones: Cool toy or privacy concern?

My parents neighbor would fly their drone right into people backyards and up to their windows. Multiple neighbors called the cops and they finally stopped. Pretty annoying. I have one and they're fun to fly, but in the wrong hands, they are definitely a liability. The prices have come down so much, any average Joe can buy one. I'm sure we will see many issues in the future caused by drones. On a side note, they can be harmful to pets. My boxer likes to chase my drone and I spent a few hours at the Vet this past weekend because it scratched her eye. All fun and games until someone loses an eye!

New KTM 450 xcw Or 500 xcw

Sounds like you may have purchased it already, but I would go with the 500. There's not a huge difference in control or ease of riding. You just have to be a little easier on the throttle at times, but it's not like one handles extremely better than the other in the tight stuff, like say a 300 2 stroke. Everyone said the same thing when I bought my old 450 and I regretted not buying the 530 every time I rode in the desert or went down a wash. This time I went with the 500 and have no regrets. My .02.
  5. I buy all my wheel parts from KSR wheels. They have always been good to me and have great service.

    Local Cordura Alterations?

There's a small shoe repair place in La Jolla that has done work on thick packs for me. It's in the Vons parking lot. Small little shop, but the guy is great and very reasonable. I found that normal seamstress places sometimes can't sew thick stuff, so you might want to try a shoe place.
  7. My valve seats didn't need much, so Bob (CAFlash on KTM Talk) helped me clean them up with his valve seat cutter. I sent the cylinder to Powerseal for plating. That's who Bob recommended.

    Which Compression Tester?

You might want to consider a leak down tester instead. I have the Total Seal Tester. Not cheap, but good quality. The Jegs version is great bang for the buck. About the same price as the Motion Pro Compression tester.

    HVAC Company

I appreciate all the responses. I plan to get a few bids so thank you. Luckily we have solar and running our AC 24/7 lately. Came with the house. Now I just need a well to keep the yard green!

    HVAC Company

I'm building a guest house and need a good HVAC company to install the heater and A/C. Is anyone on this site an HVAC specialist or know someone? thank you!

    Moving to... Victorville...

Definitely not the worst place for any type of riding. Willow Springs is fun on a street bike if that interests you at all. Turns 8/9 are exciting to say the least! Enjoy!

    Selling a Mustang

I've done the same thing, but suspect that won't protect you if the buyer decides to make life difficult- you cannot create a contract that violates the law- which is pretty clear that the seller is responsible. I sold mine as a non-op, and didn't have any repercussions, but I worried about it for a few years. I guess anything can happen, but guys sell street vehicles converted to race vehicles all the time. People also sell vehicles out of state that can always make it back to CA. I guess the better way would be to formalize the process with the DMV and register it for non-street use before selling it to a 3rd party. There has to be some way to do it legally and protect yourself. I would be curious to know the best way if anybody knows? Luckily the Nissan was many years ago. If it showed up now, I would offer to buy it back for what I sold it for (super cheap) and use it at the track in NV.
