Just put one of these on my XR and my EXC; very happy with the product. Haven't finished stapling on the XR one yet..... -

There is a Stone truck running around that says on the side "It's not too expensive; you're too cheap"! I like the first one -
Hey 2 smoke guys, what's the bike to get?
simicrintz replied to 97xr400r's topic in What Bike to Ride
I am not nearly as good of a rider as I suspect you are; so take this with a grain of salt! I love my 650 for some things and I love my 500 for others. At the end of the day, "ready to race", even for me, is not even close on these bikes, which is kinda disappointing. I did pull the smog and reed valve, cleaned up the muffler, added a JD Tuner and had George redo the suspension and I am finally happy with the bike. Good luck on making your decision! -

Lower Profile Rear Tire

I work too much (have three jobs) and just can't seem to get away as much as I would like to. House goes on the market in spring and I sell a portion of one business in June and move to Utah; with any luck I'll be able to do 300 miles a week once there! -

Always pinch flats, and usually on the front. I tend to use the front brake a lot and I have heard that may be contributing to it. I do have rim locks (was not running them for a while) and that seems to have slowed the flats. I usually run around 12-14 psi in both bikes. The XR has been used as a double up bike with my wife on mostly road trips (around 200 miles) and I have raised the psi then. Only 1 pinch flat on the front of the XR on the road; rest were all dirt (probably around six total; bike has about 3,700 miles on it). No flats on the Shinko's yet, but bike (unfortunately) only has about 300 miles on it so far and I ran the stock tires for about 100 miles in the beginning. -

I run the Dunlop D606 on my XR and the Shinko 505 on my KTM. The XR seems to spend more time on the road (actually probably about 50/50) so that tire works well for both surfaces, and I am very happy with the Shinko on the KTM (I have 3 Ocotillo trips on that as well as one Big Bear trip; probably about 400 total miles and it still looks like new). The Shinko is a fatty but I like how it handles and have had to flats at all (I seem to get them every time I take the Honda in the dirt with the D606's). -
Look at that sand blowing off the ridge!!

Buddy of mine in Santa Cruz just picked one up and says it is a blast; anyone around here rode one? https://lunacycle.com/sur-ron-x-bike-black-edition/

That is the guy I hope to be one day!!

That viddy did NOTHING to talk me out of one! I have the exact same fear, Kelly! I am almost done with my Chevy Volt Lithium battery conversion in my golf cart so my eyes are catching electric stuff currently (no pun intended!)!
-
Very sad. From the looks of the debris field it was quite a collision

The Sur Ron is one I would definitely have to budget in....... That makes the CAKE bike just a bit farther out!
-
How much are those, Robert?

I'm not ready to make a move on one yet but they sure do look interesting (and stealthy!).

I am not new but I know someone that will be soon!

No dust-nice!! -
That is the statement of the year! That said, once I did the smog delete (shhhh!), JD tuner, took out the reed valve, opened up the exhaust and swapped out the tires it was a completely different bike. Then after I got it back from having George put a set of his Gobblers in the forks it transformed once again. From a bike I kind of liked to one that I now love!

One time I was out in a sand wash and saw what I can only explain as a torpedo in the sand. Visible from the surface was a breathing snorkel, fresh air intake nozzle and a GoPro. As it approached me and the sand starting turning to dirt, out popped Zubb on the big Beemer. With a tip of his helmet and a twist of the throttle-resulting in one of the longest wheelies I have ever seen-he was off. Definitely a sight that I will never forget. -
Good for you for kicking its azz, Charlie!!

You know what they say; good things are worth the wait! I am in Escondido and made the drive out and am super stoked; it's a whole new bike! By the way, I am not a paid spokesperson, nor do I play one on TV; just a happy customer!

Bummer!! Mine were leaking as well and I took the bike to George at Suspension 101 and he added the Gobblers and did the seals at the same time; you may want to give him a call
