Been a member since august but have been gone alot (alaska) until now, I live in borrego springs and own the off road recovery service here, I work the cool months and ride everywhere I can in the summer, I usually ride solo (even alaska) but am always willing to ride with a group, I do not own a car (my wife does) and I ride anytime possible. All members are welcome at my place, if you want to park your rig in a secure place or even need a tow or somewhere to put your bike in an emergency, just let me know, welding and other machining tools are available at my place, and I do not charge fellow riders (maybe a beer at the legion) I appreciate all the great info I have gotten from this group and hope to see you on the trail. alyeska

Thanks for that info. I think I will just go with the shorter compact bulb type now, if you still need those springs you can have them for free! and if the check does,nt get here for the tank you can have it all for $75. Thanks again. alyeska

Once you pass the big "blu in" sign on 78 (on my property) go less than a quarter mile and start looking for the tiny brown sign on the left that says "buttes pass" just rode the route 2 days ago and san felipe wash was pretty muddy to the west. alyeska -

Motorcycle superstore, tires is the only thing I can say good, they cannot be beat shipped to your door on any tire. I just rode from san diego to deadhorse ak. this year and ordered tires and had them waiting for me in medford at the store, when I arrived,(small storefront) I won't buy tires anywhere else now.

Anyone riding to chapparral next week? (week of 9-20) plan on going some time next week before friday, anyone welcome to ride along, got to get goodies for my xr. alyeska

My wife and kids have been riding quads for years now, the polaris is easy to ride, no real shifting, but resale sucks! go with the honda if you ever want to sell it again, but I prefer the suzuki I bought the first one in san diego back in 85 from lemon grove suzuki, cost me $2350 OTD and it was a great fast quad. alyeska

Thanks for the info, I will be riding 90% dirt since I live in the desert, I already have the clark tank, and ordered the smog blockoff and got it the next day from xrs only, but the shipping was pretty steep,($38 total) already put it on, no running difference at all, but all that crap is off of the motor and I am sure air flow to the left side will be better. I will probably go with the 130/90-18 d606 rear and the 90/90-21 d606 front. Alyeska

Just picked up a 06 xr650L today, got tons of questions, I am a drz klr guy, first, whats the best size 606 to run front and back? second, how do I remove all the smog crap? and whats the lightest most effective skid plate? these are the only mods I want to do now, have not owned a XR since 86. Thanks in advance. Alyeska

Thanks, i got the 18 or those tires would be mine! bikes got 100% street tires on it now, book shows 4.60-18 and 3.00-21 I need to find out what size that would be in 606s or what others are running, Thanks. Alyeska

Monday afternoon RIDE thread!

Riding in corral canyon this monday, meeting some friends from san diego at 0930 at 4 corners, easy ride. -
New to this forum, riding for 35 plus years 99% dirt, san diego native now living in borrego springs area. I operate the off road recovery service in anza borrego park, and service areas from the mexican border to big bear. I work 8 months out of the year and then ride the rest of the time, just returned from 8 weeks in alaska and met some of your members in montana while coming home. I have always ridden solo including my last trip but now would like to do some close to home riding with others. I am always willing to help out fellow riders and jeepers as I have been heavily involved in both activities for most of my life. Look forward to meeting some of you on the trail. Tom
