  1. I headed up Crosley TT all the way to the intersection with Cutca Valley TT, at the intersection is an very old sign with mileage to Cutca Valley and the "dead end at 9 miles" and the other way which is the Crosley TT showed Palomar Divide TT, dont remember the mileage, well KKUG, YUP you are correct, the Crosley TT ends at a gate with a big "NO TRESPASSING" sign and gate. So I turned around and headed up the Cutca Valley TT and decided to turn around when I went through a open gate, "no signs" and saw a guy working on something off the side and gave me a look, no that would have been a glare. So to keep the peace I turned around and headed back towards Hwy 79, but not before one more failed attempt to access the trails, there is another entrance to the Cutca Valley TT, (i think) and it is on Cleveland Forest road, but around the first corner is a gate, it was locked, but on the gate it stated something about only street legal vehicles beyond this point. I will have to make another trip to see if that gate is opened up when the snow melts and they open the trail to High Point. Time will tell, and that particular area I dont believe is Wilderness from the maps I have found, where the Crosley TT most definately heads into the Agua Tibia Wilderness.
  2. I have been wanting to get out and ride but my friends up here in the north part of the county are soo busy, and I don't like or believe in riding alone. The trail I want to check out is off Hwy 79, it starts out as the Crosely truck trail and then onto the Cutca Valley TT. According to Google Earth it goes up to the Palomar Divide TT. If anyone interested in checking this trail out on Thursday afternoon, lets say meet at the Ralphs Parking lot by the Moble station around 1pm. Make sure to leave a post here with what you are riding so we can meet up. I am riding a 530excr KTM. Mike 760-644-1131 cell
  3. I will be just up the road from you. Split Mountain around the next curve and 1 mile on the right. KTM is staying home this weekend, but maybe I will drop in with the Rhino (Silver with Pink flag) hey its the wifes.
  4. Give me shout anytime you want to ride too. I live in Temecula and love to just get out and ride. Have riden that area a few times, Teneja TT to fallbrook and the cleveland road all the way to Ortega highway and down into Elsinore. Another fun ride is up the back side of Palomar mtn of hwy 79 and the ride to Pine Cove up Bees Canyon is great too. call leave message on my cell a couple days in advance and maybe we can hook up for some dual sporting.
  5. I cant believe I missed the Bodie ride. My weekend up there started off on a bad note. First off showed up at Glass Creek campground Thursday evening only to find out that it is designated sites only and full, so off to Big Springs and found out the same thing. Spent the night at Hartley campground. Back to Glasscreek in the morning found a site and had to drive back to Hartley to get Motorhome and trailer and move. Set up camp and now it is 1 pm and still needed to go shopping for food. Found a tire on the trailer with tread seperation and it is 185.00 in Mammoth and 130.00 in Bishop, planned a Sat. morning trip for tire and breakfast in Bishop Sat. Truck overheated on the way, ended up getting towed back into Mammoth and waited until 4pm till to get truck back and the expensive Tire. So Sunday had to spend time with the wife, we took the Rhino out did a loop all the way to Mammoth loop and back then headed across the hwy and up Bald mtn rd. Rhino did not like 8000 ft so headed back to camp and got in around 3pm. The whole time sunday I was thinking of the trip to Bodie and was wishing I was doing that rather than cruising in the Rhino. Oh well maybe next time. Looks like you had a blast.
  6. please provide more information, I have done a google search with no luck. Let us know, i will be out on MLK day with a group of FF's and I dont believe anyone is aware of this.
  7. where did you access the trail, from the 76 side or the hwy 79 side, if off 79 did you go in at the RV park or up by sunshine summit. just wondering if the gates are open.
  8. This was a great day, the track moisture was perfect, lots of Orange and was great to see plates on the track, mine included. Was fun trying to keep up with some of the little XC bikes with a big ole 530 EXCR pig, but over all great day. THANK YOU KTM FOR THE DAY, AND THE $5.00 LUNCH WITH ALL PROCEEDS GOING TO TOYS FOR TOTS.
  9. I may be interested in that ride, I live in temecula and came real close to doing that trail last week. The lower entrance where you ran into the gate is Highpoint TT, I would have been bummed to drive up to that, the entrance out of warners is the Palomar divide TT I think. If we have to leave from warners how about stage somewhere like Sunshine summit if they will let us leave some vehicle in the parking lot would save a lot of Pavement riding, just a thought, I have not riden these trails but want to very much and in the snow would be awesome. Let us know.
  10. DARN, I knew I should have taken the day off and done this ride. The weather Sunday was fantastic and I was stuck at work. Although what really kept me from going was being sore from some miss adventure in Ocotillo Wells on Saturday. Was going to attempt this short little hill climp until I got a handful of throttle and approached that base and realized that the last 6 foot section was straight up. Anyway I think the next TMS ride I will be there. I do live in Temecula, so kind of stupid not to take advantage of these rides.
  11. The property being fenced/posted is probably one of the most diapointing things to happen to that area for me. The large chuck of land where the Black water containers on top of a hill is refered to as the Turks property. He wanted to make a golf course. He booby trapped the trails accessing his property and was very aggresive in keeping people out. Last I heard he had a $50,000 fine for assualt with a deadly weapon. The story is he actual had a young adult on the ground at gun point, and I have heard stories of him shooting in the air to warn people off his property. . The golf course failed to go through, i wish he would leave and make that area open again. The other property being fenced/posted along the San Diego County line and south back into the mud hills is a person that wants to enjoy his property but is afraid others getting hurt and sueing him. I have heard that he is going to alow his friend to use his land but others will not have access. I am not sure how far back ihis property goes into the mud hills, but it appears he is triing to keep people out of what the MX croud knows as "Mars". He has posted the area leading into that area of "no offroad activity" and last weekend I noticed a telephone pole laying on the ground at what we know as the snake, a trail leading out of the mud hills towards the south. The rest of the mud hills on Imperial County side have not been officially been claimed and still open. Keep in mind, all this property is Private, The owners just have not tried to keep people out, YET. There is still great riding in that area, with tight technical rides and climbs that can be very challanging. If you go beyond the mud hills south toward the moutains there is alot more property that has been purchased and being fenced. All I can say is please respect these folks, ride slow past their property and stay off and out of their land. I am not an owner, I just want to keep enjoying that part of the Desert, it is less crowded that the OHV park and accesses some great riding. If you have any other questions regarding this area let me know, My parents do own property out there, but it is in an area that offroaders do not use.
  12. Darn I wish you had posted this before Saturday. I was in the dez on Sat. and tried to hook up with (joliet) Ken, but I missed them. Wanted to ride on Sunday, but still did not have a partner, would hove loved to hooked up with you guys. I know that area around Hawks pretty good, and the area to the south of 78 at County line I know very well. That side of the 78 is great riding. I am sure you had a blast with the cool temp and cloud cover. Sorry I missed this ride, would have been fun. Mike
  13. Well I am not sure if you got there by 10 or not, but I was at the tracks by 1015. Did I miss you guys, sat there for a few minute and decided to meet you up fish creek. I went up to the wind cave and no sign of you guys, did not know if you were coming down the trail to the right or left when heading up, but I took the one to the left and rode another 6 miles and never saw anyone. If you would have been coming down the squeeze I have been told I may have taken the wrong turn at the Y going up. Anyway I tried. Hope you guys had a good time. I left my bike in the Dez for I am returning again this Saturday. and work all week. Hope to catch up with you guys another time MIke If it is where I am thinking of, it is 2.8 miles from Split Mountain Road along the tracks. Hope to see you there. If you are on the tracks I should see you, although I looked for Schwinns 142 foot trailer in that area last week and couldn't find it . Ken
  14. ken, If you exit fish creek canyon and hit the railroad tracks, Old Mine road is about a mile down the tracks, if you go across the trackt the south there is an old mine, hence the name. If you head north it takes you to the pole line road which runs from split mountain rd past Coriso Wash towards the Sups. We do have HAM there, what is your call sign and I may have my Dad (who has the license) raise you. I think his call sign, is kd6izu, dont quote me on that, he also goes by the sand pit. I wrote down the freqs. Hope to see you Saturday, if I am not sitting at the tracks, don't even slow down unless your group wants to check out the old mine. Kind of cool, no hole just rotting equipment and tailing, but good view of the area. Mike Remember: Stay On it, Not Under it”
  15. Wow, that is early, I dont even get off work until 0630-0700. I will be in the Dez around 1000, any idea what time you would be at Fish Creek and Split Mtn Rd. I could meet up there for the ride to the Superstitions. Let me now, i may go sit at old mine rd and the tracks between 1000-1100, so if you see a lonely KTM 530 rider looking all alone stop by and say Hi.
